August,
I know this will be hard to forgive. But, I hope you can at least try. You must understand that I acted to save my husband, and only for that reason. You acted to save your family, so I believe you understand. I intended to kill you, and I'm glad I didn't. I couldn't do it because I know how hard it would be for your family to lose a father figure. I know that devastation, and I do not wish to inflict that pain upon your beautiful family. I know you may think of me as your queen, but I hope for that thought to transition into you thinking of me as your ally. Even as your friend. Possibly.
I do not place myself above you. You can speak of this incident all you want to your family, but please do not divulge this information to the press. You know how badly that can influence Illéa's opinion on the monarchy and its allies, or its enemies, which would include yourself. Whichever category you choose to place yourself in, you are included.
And I hope you know that the southern rebel attacks were heavily based on one opinion. A strong, inflexible opinion.
Sincerely,
America Schreave
