Chapter 8

*This time the song is for Jordyn's dilemma.*

Once the doctors took Jordyn to the emergency room, Yugi found time to call the game shop. The others weren't exactly thrilled to hear that the two of them were at the hospital, so they arrived in a matter of minutes.

Yugi spotted them an waved until they saw him. In seconds he was ambushed by his friends and bombarded with questions.

"What the heck happened to you?" Joey asked urgently, putting his hands on Yugi's shoulders.

"Nothing, I'm fine," he replied calmly and wiped Joey's hands off of him.

"Fine?!" Tèa said sarcastically. "Yugi, you look terrible! I'm getting bandages right now." She hurried off.

Yugi looked down at himself and finally noticed that he was pretty beat-up. He had multiple cuts and bruises, mostly on his face and hands.

"Dude, she's right," Tristan added. "You look like crap." Yugi shot him an annoyed look.

Atem folded his arms seriously. "Yugi, tell us what happened. Who did this to you?"

Yugi looked away. "We were attacked by a gang. They tried to mug us, but we fought back. So they pulled out weapons and it got ugly."

Atem's eyes widened in surprise. "Weapons?"

Yugi nodded. "Yeah a gun and a knife. Jordyn disarmed them, but she got shot in the process." He stared at the ground sadly. "She was trying to protect me."

"Wait, who got shot?" The group turned around to see Ryo running up to them.

"Bakura? What are you doing here?" Tristan asked.

Ryo stopped to catch his breath. He was panting heavily from running so hard. "I heard Yugi was at the hospital. I got here as fast as I could."

"Bakura..." Yugi was stunned to realize that he cared so much. "You came all this way to check on me?"

Ryo nodded. "Of course,Yugi. We're still friends, remember? But why aren't you in the hospital room and what's all this 'being-shot' business?"

"Apparently, Yugi and Jordyn got in a fight with a gang." Tristan tried his best to summarize. "And Jordyn got shot."

Ryo's eyes widened. "What?! Is she okay? Where is she?" he asked frantically.

Yugi gestures to the emergency room behind them. "She's in the ER right now, with the doctors. I don't know how she is." He glanced at the ER worriedly. Please be okay...

Joey growled in anger. "Who was this gang, Yuge? I need to teach 'em a lesson. Nobody messes with my buddies." He glanced at the ER. "Pulling an unfair weapon in a fist fight is one thing, but to use it on a girl takes it to whole 'nother level." He looked back at Yugi. "So, who was it?"

"They call themselves 'the spiders'," Yugi stated. "The leader called himself Pit."

"The spiders, huh?" Joey popped his knuckles. "Consider this bug squashed." He started for the exit.

Tèa grabbed him by the back of his shirt. She held a box of bandages in her hand. "I don't think so. You're staying here until everything's situated." Joey held back an angry retort. She turned to Yugi. "As for you, you're getting fixed up whether you like it or not."

"But Tèa, I'm fine," he assured her. "It's just a couple scratches."

She shook her head. "No but's. You're hurt Yugi. You need help." Yugi sighed and gave up. There was no arguing with her sometimes.
