Ryo raced out of the hospital into the street. He kept running until he was far away from the hospital. It was then that he stopped to catch his breath.
"What was I thinking?!" he panted. "I almost-" he shook his head. "What's wrong with me?! I can't think that way, not about Jordyn. She's just a friend, nothing more!"
Maniacal laughter echoed deep inside Ryo's mind. "He, he, you are most entertaining indeed, boy." The small Earth cell appeared next to Ryo. Inside, the thief spirit, Bakura, chuckled to himself in amusement.
Ryo turned angrily to him. "What do you want?" he growled.
Bakura shook his head. "Nothing. I was just taking note of your extremely amusing emotions." He smiled wickedly. "I had no idea you cared so much for that monster."
Ryo reached in the cell and grabbed Bakura's shirt unexpectedly. Before Bakura realized it, Ryo pulled him forward into the bars, slamming him against them. He grunted in pain.
Ryo looked him in the eyes, his eyes blazing with anger and snarled, "Don't ever call her that. Jordyn's no monster!"
"Oh please," Bakura managed to say, despite his face being pressed up against the bars. "She's a monster like the rest of them."
Bakura was slammed against the bars of the cell again. "Jordyn told me what you did to her. And the rest of the guardians," Ryo said angrily.
"The guardians were the ones that showed the Pharaoh how to create the Millennium Items," Bakura growled. "They got what they deserved."
"You killed her brother!" Ryo shouted. "You took away the only family she had. She's not the monster here, YOU are!"
Bakura chuckled. "My, my, what a temper. Be careful, boy, you wouldn't want to lose control again, now would you? Not without your precious teacher here to save you."
Ryo's eyes narrowed. He released Bakura and stepped back. He closed his eyes and shifted into his green Earth dragon. The dragon roared ferociously. He shoved his tail in between the bars and put the club's blade-like point against Bakura's throat. "I don't need her to take care of you," he said in a low growl.
Bakura eyed the blade nervously. He glared back at the dragon. "Then why don't you? Neither one of us has anything to lose. Could it be that you don't want to? Or are you that much of a coward?" he sneered.
The dragon growled and leaned closer to the bars, pushing harder on the blade. Bakura gagged and it began to draw blood. Ryo's eyes narrowed. "Believe me, I would love to. But I've been thinking and I've realized that I'm not the one meant to destroy you." He presses harder on the blade. "But if you even think about harming anyone, I will kill you. Myself, without a second thought."
He released Bakura and drew his tail back. Bakura fell back, gagging and coughing. Blood dripped from the cut on his neck. He grinned wickedly once again. "Well look at you. You've grown up so much since we first met. You've become strong enough to threaten to kill me. If I recall correctly, when you first met me you couldn't do so much as tie your own shoes without me."
Ryo snarled and his eyes flashed white. "Shut up! I don't need you, I NEVER needed you. Never!" His scales began to darken as he roared. "I'm sick of you tormenting me and ruining my life! And everyone else's life too! I won't let you harm anyone ever again!" His eyes changed completely to white and dark shadows began to stream from his mouth and nostrils.
"Bakura!" Both the dragon and the thief turned to see Yugi running up towards them. "Stop! You're losing control, that's what he wants!"
"Yugi?" The dragon blinked in surprise.
