Joey watched the doors close behind them. Then he turned back to the group. "Well...that was...weird."
"Yeah, no kidding," Tristan said in agreement. "What in the heck was she talking about? What 'great danger' is there now? I thought we were done with all these stupid threats."
Atem nodded. "So did I. I thought the Millennium Ring was supposed to be our last threat."
"Apparently it's not." Tèa glanced worriedly back at the door. "And it sounds that this battle is going to be our worst yet," she shuddered.
"Don't worry," Atem assured her as he he took her hand in his. "I'm sure it's nothing we can't handle. We've already been through so much that it will probably seem easy to us."
Ryo nodded. "I'm positive we'll get through it. Like Atem said, we've already been through the worst possible. It'll be fine." He turned to Jordyn. "Right?"
She didn't look up from her thoughts. She sighed and replied quietly, "I hope so." But what did Nirvana mean by following my heart? Jordyn glanced at Yugi, who was lost in his thoughts. Is our bond really as powerful as she made it seem? Is it strong enough to pass the tests about to be thrown onto us? It has to be. I can't let Yugi get hurt again. I won't fail him again.
Ryo saw the worry in her eyes and tried to comfort her. "It'll be fine. We'll get through this together. Let's just go and have fun for right now. We can worry about it when it happens." He took her hand and Jordyn looked up in surprise. Ryo smiled happily. "C'mon, let's go." Jordyn smiled as well and nodded. The two headed toward the main hall where the dance was being held.
"Ryo's right. Let's go and have fun. It'll happen when it happens," Tristan said. Everyone nodded in agreement and followed Ryo and Jordyn into the hall.
Inside, there were groups of people dancing surrounded by multitudes of people standing or sitting, who were talking happily. The hall was covered in decorations like ornaments, bows, and garland. The students of Domino High were all dressed up as were the guests and teachers. The teachers were grouped together chatting instead of monitoring the school, but no one really minded at the moment. Fast pace club music was playing, inviting everyone to dance. The DJ up on stage stood and tapped his foot to the beat of the music blaring through his headphones.
As the group walked in, some of the students noticed and began whispering about them.
"Is that Yugi Moto?" "The world-famous duelist?" "Yeah, I heard he got attacked a couple weeks ago." "Huh, looks pretty good for being mugged by the Spiders. They don't usually leave survivors. Especially duelists." "Look there's Ryo Bakura! He's the cutest boy in the whole school!!" "Who's that girl with him?" "I dunno, I've never seen her at school before." "I think that's the girl who was in the fight with Yugi." "Really? Are you sure? That girl doesn't seem like a fighter." "Yeah, supposedly she was the one that saved Yugi." "Really? Dang, remind me not to get on that chick's bad side. If she can take out all the Spiders on her own I bet she can kick some serious butt."
A couple of kids waved happily at the group while others either grumbled under their breath about them or didn't acknowledge them at all. One boy in particular noticed them and smirked.
"Well look who's here," he said quietly to himself. "Hmph. And here I thought that none of those dorks would have the courage to show up, let alone bring dates. I guess those shrimps have some guts after all." The the 18-year old boy was wearing a white tux with a dark-blue tie. He was extremely tall for his age and was always dressed up, whether it was necessary or not. He had neatly cut short, brown hair. He had blue eyes and pale skin and on his belt was the Kaiba corporation logo, KC.
