Chapter Twenty-Four|| Mad Alphas

{Katherine's POV}

With shaky hands, I crumbled the note up and tossed it in my trash bin not knowing what to do. If I told Adrian, it would make matters worse. It would piss her off more than it already did, but if I sat around and did nothing...people could get hurt. I could get hurt.

There was a knock on my bedroom door and I quickly tried to calm myself down. "Come in," I called out wiping a stray tear that fell.

"I was thinking, how about you sleep with me tonight?" Adrian asked as I walked towards my closet trying to not let him see the fear still written on my face.

"Yeah, I'd like that. Just let me get changed and I'll meet you there." I replied casually as I could.

"Alright, babe." with that, he left and I sighed resting my back against my closet door closing my eyes.

Why can't she just leave me alone?!

After I gathered myself and put on the best smile I could, I changed and headed to Adrian's room acting like I was fine. It seemed to be the norm for me lately.

"Come lay down." Adrian spoke from his bed as he laid on it with his arms wide open.

I chuckled, shutting the door behind me and ran towards the bed like a five-year-old. Adrian belched out a laugh when I went to pounce on him and caught me mid-air before I could land.

"You could have killed me." he exaggerated and I scoffed.

"Are you calling me fat?"

"Do not pull that card with me, woman. I know what path that leads down and I do not want to go down it." he joked placing me next to him and I just grinned snuggling up next to his side as he wrapped an arm around me.

"For the record, I think you have a smokin' hot body," he added and I laughed.

"You're crazy." I playfully patted his chest not viewing myself that way.

"Katherine, I'm serious," he said and in seconds maneuvered us to where he was hovering of me and I was pinned beneath him, leaving me breathless. "You drive me crazy," he spoke in a raspy voice.

I gulped noticing the orange color slowly creep into his eyes. "How?" the word slipped out before I could stop it and he slowly smirked.

"You really want to know?" he asked with a devilish look.

"Maybe."

Adrian bit his lip slowly looking me over and I had to stop myself from actually pouncing on him right then.

"For starters, your eyes. They are like a moth to a flame...I could get lost in them. Or the way you easily get embarrassed and your cheeks tint a pinkish color making you look even more ravishing. Every inch of your body, every curve, is so damn beautiful that I could practically worship you like a temple, Katherine. Your laugh, oh Goddess your laugh...I could hear it all day. Don't even get me started on you smi-"

Before he could even finish I wrapped my arms around his neck bringing him down, crashing his lips to mine. I just couldn't help myself. He responded just a hungrily.

The kiss was beyond the best we've had. It was meaningfully filled with admiration, lust, and passion. The way he gripped my waist, pulling me closer. The way our mouths met eagerly wanting more and more. It was to die for.

His mouth left mine, trailing wet kisses down my neck causing me to bite my lip to hold in a moan. But the second he met my mark, it slipped out and a satisfied growl rumbled within his chest.

His fingers dug into my waist, not to the point of pain, but a delicious pressure causing my body to warm with heat. His hips met mine at the same time he brought his lips back to mine earning a groan.

Seconds later he pulled back resting his forehead against mine as he looked directly into my eyes breathing harshly. "As I said, you drive me crazy." the huskiness in his voice made me want to pull his lips back to mine that second.

"Likewise." was all I could mumble back as I too tried to catch my breath.

"I think it's time for bed you naughty girl, trying to seduce me like that. Shame on you." he teased and I let out a snort playfully trying to push him away.

"Like you didn't want me to." I joked and he gave me a playful growl dipping his head into the crook of my neck and nipped at my mark.

"I sure did."

I bit my lip to hold back my grin when he pulled back and rolled over next to me to his previous spot. "I don't think I'll be able to sleep actually," he mumbled and I couldn't help but belch out a laugh.

"Be right back." he shot me a knowing wink before getting up and I had to cover my mouth to try not to laugh.

It was that moment I knew, by Adrian's side...I could get through anything. He was the light at the end of the tunnel and I just had to strive to reach it.

"What?! No! How were you not on guard?!" A voice woke me from my sleep and I slowly leaned my head up from my pillow looking through my sleepy eyes.

Adrian was on the phone by the window as he looked out it.

"I don't care! Figure it out!" He yelled in a harsh whisper.

"Adrian?" I called out.

"I've got to go," he mumbled before ending the call and ran his fingers through his hair; a habit of his that he did when he was stressed.

"What's wrong?" I asked more awake, sitting up.

"Nothing, baby, go back to bed." he walked back over getting back in beside me.

"You sounded angry."

"I am. There was a breach in the border." my eyes widened and I felt the familiar emotion of fear wash over me.

"Was it...her?"

"They believe so. They think Stacy or someone else managed to the border when they were switching the men who were patrolling. They're out scouting for them, following the trail now. Don't worry, I've got it handled. Please, get some rest...you need it."

Panic shot through me and the note crept into my mind.

"I didn't tell you something." I shot out and his eyes snapped to meet mine.

"Tell me what?"

"I-I found a note in my room." I croaked out and I instantly felt anger shoot through our bond.

He was furious.

"You what?!'

"When I got back to my room tonight it was there. I just threw it away not wanting to think about it. I thought she couldn't get to me. It was...a demand telling me to end our bond basically."

"And you didn't think to tell me?! What the hell, Katherine! Did you even consider the fact that she somehow got a note to you, which means she can get to you?!"

Goddess, I didn't even think about that. Stupid, stupid, stupid!

"I'm sorry," I spoke barely above a whisper.

"Dammit!" he yelled causing me to flinch and he instantly bolted up from the bed.

"Where are you going?!" I asked sitting up and he shot me a harsh look as he quickly headed towards the door.

"To check on Ivy."

Oh, Goddess, what have I done?!
