Alicia

After 15 hours of labor and not so bad contractions, I was getting tired of waiting for him.

A doctor came in a felt my abdomen.

“The baby seems in the breeched position, which means that it’s feet down so, we’re going to try to move it. So, what you’re going to have to do is lay on your side.” The doctor informed me. I took a deep breath and turned onto my left side.

The doctor came next to me and so did nurses and Delaine.

“Alright, Alicia, I’m going to need you to take a deep breath. When I start pushing on the baby, I want you to slowly exhale.” He explained. I nodded my head and took in a deep breath. As he pushed onto my stomach, I did exactly what he said and slowly let out my breath.

He did it a few more times until the baby was in the vertex position.

“In an hour or so, we’ll check your dilation. So, just hang tight.”

Tyga came in and checked on me periodically. He’s trying to get the doctor to bring Chris over to see me.

“How’s everything over here?” He asks, walking in the room.

“Alright, I guess. They just had to move the baby around.”

“Oh. Are you going to be delivering anytime soon?” He responded.

“I have no idea. The doctor said he’d be back in thirty minutes to check on me.”

He nods his head and sits down.

“How’s Chris doing?” I ask.

“He’s doing alright. He was sleeping when I left.” He answered. Delaine sat down in the chair that she pulled next to the bed and Tyga sat on the other chair. We sat in silence for a while. I even started to doze off, until a minor contraction woke me up.

My doctor came back in the room and stood at the foot of the bed.

“How are your contractions?” he asked

“They’re not that bad, very minor. They come every couple of hours or so.”

“Oh, that’s not a good sign. We’re just going to check your how you’re dilating and then we’ll add some oxytocin in your IV to make your contractions for frequent.”

I put my feet on the metal legs and he checked my dilation.

“You’re not dilating that well efficiently, but we’ll wait to see what happens with that. Also, we need to speed up this delivery. Nurses will come in soon and add some oxytocin. I’ll check back on you in an hour to see how your contractions are doing.” He explained.

I sighed heavily.  “I know. It’ll be alright though. Just hang in there.” He added.

He left the room and minutes later nurses came in and put a bag of oxytocin on the pole with the other fluids.

Three hours passed and the contractions got unbearable and closer together.

“I’m going to check your dilation again, Alicia.” He checked it with a frown on his face.

“Is there something wrong?”

“You haven’t dilated since I last checked you. You’ll need a cesarean done.”

“What? No. I don’t want that done. I want to deliver him vaginally.” I almost yelled.

“I’m sorry. We’ll need to do this soon so, I’ll go get the OR prepped and the anesthesiologist will be in soon to give you local anesthesia.”

“Okay.” I mumbled.

Delaine hugged me tightly. “I’m sorry, mama.” She said.

“I’ll be alright.” I murmured.

After an hour or so, I finally was wheeled into the OR and the baby was delivered.

“What are you going to name him?” Delaine asked.

“Well, we’ve been thinking about wither Tyler Maurice Brown or Austin Maurice Brown.”

“Oh. Their nice and flowy.” She answered.

“You hate them.” I slurred. I knew she did. When she adds an unnecessary y at the end of a word, she hates that thing.

“I don’t they’re very simple.”

“Whatever.” I murmured. They brought the baby over to me and I don’t know why, I started crying. He was just so, beautiful and small.

“How does it feel to be on the outside, Austin?” I cooed. He stirred a bit.

“Okay, Tyler, I’m really glad you’re here. I’ve been waiting so long for you.” I continued. He made a little sound. So, I deemed Tyler to be his name.

Delaine took pictures of me with him. Her with Tyler and Tyga with Tyler.

After our little photo shoot, they brought me back to the room.
