I looked up at the huge hospital with so much nervousness within me. I don’t know what to expect. For a year of silence, this will be the first time I get to see my parents. After landing, I knew people would be buzzing for my arrival. I was MIA for a long time and when you grew up in a family who’s always under the spotlight, you would know tabloids feed off whatever can make their headlines alive.

I feel Tessa hold my hand and squeeze it tightly. I’m grateful that she’s here with me. Now that I know we’re siblings, it gave me such a relief that I wouldn’t be alone in facing my family.

“You can do this. I’ll be there the whole time.” She said encouragingly. I nodded my head, closed my eyes and breathed deep. After a few minutes, we walked inside the building with Levi leading the way.

“This way, Miss.” He said.

“Levi, I told you, you can call me by my name.” I said softly. He looked at me while we waited for the elevator.

“You just look different, Miss.” He answered, voice laced with obvious nervousness.

“Is that a bad thing?” I smiled at him. He shook his head and blushed. Some things never change.

“Not at all. You look…happier, I guess.” He answered. I looked back at the elevator door solemnly. I do. I mean, I did. I was very happy especially this past month. I never thought I would ever feel this much genuine happiness. Namjoon was everything I never thought I wanted. He’s like the light at the end of the tunnel. He gives me so much joy in my heart just by thinking about him. But now, now I really don’t know. I’m back to where I was before. I left without even talking to him. I left a big strain in our relationship. A relationship which I don’t know if I can still go back to.

“Miss, let’s go?” Levi asked while urging me and Tessa to get inside the elevator.

Once we are inside, I felt the familiar knot in my stomach. I remember the frantic cries of my mother over the phone. “How is dad when you left, Levi?”

I see him visibly tense. It was just a simple question but why did he get nervous all of a sudden. “I think it’s better you see him for yourself, Miss.” He answered while stuttering slightly. I looked at Tessa and she has the same worry in her eyes. We are both left in the dark even when Levi arrived in South Korea to fetch us. No one answered our questions. Knowing Dad, he might’ve ordered all of them not to.

We arrived at the floor where VIP clients resides when they are admitted. I untangled my hands from Tessa, feeling the sweat that is now starting to form on my palms. I rubbed them together. I hated this feeling. Not knowing anything is torture. What should I do when I go inside his room and see him in a bad state?

“Here we are, Miss.” Levi stopped at a huge wooden double door. It gets a little bit of getting used to again. I forgot how big my family is when I was back in Korea. The luxurious lifestyle of being an heir is something out of the ordinary.

“Aren’t you going inside with us?” I asked. He just shook his head and answered, “I don’t think it’s respectful for me to witness such private family matters, Miss. I’ll just be waiting in the lobby if you need me.” At that he turned on his heels and walked away. I looked back at Tessa and she’s playing with her hands. I reached out for her and she instantly held my hand. “We’ll be ok, Tess. We have each other, right?” She nodded her head and smiled at me. Once we’re ready, I opened the door.
