"Rachel!" I began to chase after her, pushing through the crowd and losing her out on the street. Gunfire was beginning to spread around, the students rushing back inside the building, teachers scrambling behind them.
Imediatly I knew I had to do something, the gunmen spraying the roads around the school. All the people out for a stroll were in danger, and whoever they were here for, they weren't getting on my watch. Taking a breath I glanced back at Ned and waved him inside.
No one around, let's go.
Suddenly the earth began to shake, a voice ringing out before mine even got a chance. "Shhhhhhhizz." I spun around as a mass of black rose up from between two buildings with what appeared to be a hooded figure floating on top of it. The figure began to shoot quick projectiles from the rock to each of the gunmen, suddenly encasing them and throwing them down to the ground.
"What on earth.." I mumbled, watching the gunmen attempt to shoot them down but falling victim one by one. Pulling out of my daze I raced over to one of the fallen gun men. The large burly guy fully wrapped in solid stone. He was unconscious, but as far as I could tell, unharmed.
All of a sudden it was silent, the gun fire ceased and the hooded figure gone.
"Oh my gob Peter!" I turned around, Rachel standing there with bits of dirt in her hair. "Are you okay? Why arn't you inside, are you hurt?" She grabbed my arms, looking over me like a protective mom. Concern was obviously written all over her face.
"Rae, there was a flying rock up there, did you see it? It was shooting down the guys.. I've never seen anything like it!" I exclaimed, pointing over at the man who was beginning to wake up a bit.
She glanced over, sirens walking behind us growing lowder. She didn't drop my wrists.
"Okay Peter, we should get inside before those Avengers guys show up and think we did something." Her face was written with worry, I nodding along slowly as this all happened so fast. She quickly turned and began to drag me back to the school. I bit my lip, "Are you okay Peter? Really." She said, still facing forward as we made it inside the building.
"Yeah, I was worried about you." She grimaced. Stopping in the middle of the hallway and letting herself catch her breath. I lifted up a hand, ruffling her hair and letting bits of debris fall from her locks. She smiled softly at the gesture.
"Sorry I ran off. Bullets, really freak me out. Shot my sister in the shoulder on accedent when I was twelve."
"Oh, I am so sorry, are you sure your okay?" I asked, looking at her with a bit more understanding to the situation. She smiled, leaning over and giving me a hug.
"I'm good Peter. Thank you, for careing." My ears began to burn, her purple curls falling down and bouncing on her shoulders. I hadn't noticed how bright her amber eyes were, or the dimples right in the corners of her freckled cheeks.
"Oh you, *pff* I just. Yeah.." she laughed a little, sniffing in a chest full of air.
"Miss Maddix, Mister Parker, where on this earth have you been! We thought you were dead!" Mr. Harrington ran down the hallway, face red and sweaty. He bent down and put his hands on his knees, quite obviously winded.
"Sorry Mr. Harrington, Rachel got scared and I wanted to find her."
"Well Peter, when there are gun shots being fired, it's not the best time to be running off." Rachel snorted, pushing a wisp of hair out of her face.
"Okay," he sighed, standing up and trying not to pass out, "let's get you back to class."
