My body was racked with a heavy yawn and my arm swung over to silence the alarm clock on my bed stand. Today was Saturday, but Peter had called last night and asked to meet at his place this morning. Since there was no real reason to say no I agreed to nix the extra sleep and see him there at about nine-thirty. It was eight a clock now, giving me a half hour to get dressed before I needed to leave.

My feet touched the chilled floor, sending a wave of shocks up my body. The mirror right across from me reflected a girl with a mop of knotted hair ontop of her head and enormous bags under her eyes. Yup, that seemed about right.  Sliding off my pants and into a new pair my eyes caught something on the dresser corner below the mirrors edge.

I let out a thoughtful hum, standing and grabbing the piece of paper that was created in half down the middle. My fingers made quick work of straightening it out while I began to read.

Morning hun, just wanted to say have fun with Peter, yes I was listening to your phone call, and not to do anything I wouldn't do. Had to leave for work early. I love you, be safe, your mom.

I smiled, folding it back and tucking it into my jean pocket before pulling a black sweatshirt with a drawing of a white skeleton dinosaur out of my closet and yanking it on over my head. I glanced over in the mirror, licking my palm and slicing down my wild hairs before pulling them into a ponytail and heading downstairs.

All the lights were off, front door locked and windows covered.

That's weird...

My shoulders heaved up, chills running down my neck as the floorboard squeaked in the living room. My lungs tightened, holding in a gasp as I made my way half back up the stairs and crouched down in the shadows.

"Do we really have to wait for her?" A small voice asked, gravely and a bit shrill, the footsteps began again, heading towards me but stooping short.

"Yes you idiot, we have to get the best advantage. Just stay still, she bested our men and would take you down in a heartbeat." The other man didn't argure, footsteps walking away and back to the others.

"Finally. With her powers all to ourselves, there will be no stopping us, not the avengers, not SHIELD, not that puny spider brat. We can stop the earth still in its tracks, the whole world frozen at our fingertips..." this voice was feminine, a low and heavy tone, but a womans all the same. Her two goons shuffled a bit in the dark, their shadows barely visible to me threw the open doorway to the kitchen.

Hands shaking, I lifted my arm, a single bit of stone from a decorative rock display downstairs coming to my aid. It shimmered a purple light in my hand, glistening as it morphed into a serrated dagger.

One shot..

I brought in a quick breath, moving downwards and purposefully causing the stair below me to squeak, the goons shadows silently moving to me. I stood there, looking forward, sweat rolling down my back and tears holding in my eyes as they made their way forward.

They were dead before they even hit the ground, the projectile slicing threw the first mans trekia, landing hard in the one behind heart. Blood soaked the one closest to me, a look of pure shock written in his eyes as he stared at me, hands uselessly grabbing his throat before falling to the ground dead, dark pools formed around them like black holes ready to suck them into the afterlife. I looked over, the woman smiling at me as the dagger hovered in front of her.

"So we meet again Miss Carmine." Her lips were painted a deep red, the only color I could really make out, but I knew exactly who she was.

"That's not my name anymore Rose, why can't you just leave me be?" I held my tone steady, now at the base of the stairs looking across at her in the dark, eyes fixed so she was the only thing I could see.

"Oh, I apologize Rachel.. I assumed that was just for show." Her words were full of venom as I tried my hardest to force the dagger into her skull, but it refused to move.

"I'm a different person now, since you changed me-"

"You and I both know that you were never supposed to be special. You were supposed to die and be put to rest like everyone else in this world with nothing to your name but a few years wasted out the universe. I was supposed to be the one to shape the world, not you and your insignificant useless mind!" She raised her hand high, a small device revealed from behind her. The center of it was held down by her thumb. "With this you can't touch me Carmine.." her other hand rose, my mind not quick enough to move before a small tranquilizer had stuck me in the chest.

The world spun, the ground rising to meet me as her shadow fell over my eyes.

Her words were taunting, ruby lips inked into my eyes as the blood from her men soaked into my side. I could feel her fingers graze the side of my face, eyes filled with glee, "How special are you now Carmine, just tell me?"
