Sleep Over

"Hey hey party people!" I called, yanking open the door for the three standing out in the apartment complexes hallway. "Okay get in here before one of my neighbors thinks your hookers." I murmured, grabbing Neds wrist and pulling him into my living room with Peter and MJ in his wake.

"Okay, we've got movies, we've got snacks, we've got trivia, we have two Lego sets and a box of unsolved historical mysteries. Anything else?" Ned and MJ both immediately rushed over to the Legos and mysteries respectively which I knew they would.

"Too easy." Peter chuckled, taking off his coat and laying it across the back of the couch. I giggled a little, looking over at him as he sat down, patting the spot next to him for me to come and sit.

I obliged even if a little hesitantly. "Hey, sorry about yesterday, Flash just got me on edge and.. yeah you know the rest." I held a tight lipped grin as I watched Ned begin to organize his pieces while looking over the schematics for the death star.

"No, I pushed, it was my bad. But that locker sure scared the heck out of me, wonder where that came from?" I shrugged, knowing very well where it came from but not about to disclose that information.

"No clue. Just glad we're still okay." He swung and arm around my shoulder as I turned the TV onto the news. Immediately it was lit up with sirens and flashing lights as it opened in the middle of a fire not four miles from my apartment. Peter became tense as my ears began to pick up on the sounds out the window. I had heard them earlier, bit there were always sirens in New York.

"Oh my god." MJ whispered, her attention torn away from her box of grizzley mysteries.

"I've got to go." I jumped up off the couch, going to my bed room and shutting the door behind me. I shoved my head out the window, the smell of smoke hot and heavy in the December air. My mind raced. That building was going to implode, and I could stop it.

I launched myself out the window, body covered in morphing dirt turned into a hooded cape, landing on a soft pad of soil under my window, pushing me quickly one step after another down the way to the fire raging its way through the building. My hands trembled as I raised them, a few yards behind the crowd as the bricks began to hold themselves high, the building now still, my hands along with them as I held the weight of the materials aloft while the firemen and police officers went inside.

It was crushing and it was intense but it was nothing compared to saving those people's lives. "Look! Spider Man!" I heard one woman call, the shrill calls of children in excitement ripping through the sirens as he swung by over head.

"Could have been faster dude, now come on..," I dug my heels into the pavement, "I can't do this all day." I could feel him inside. His foot falls, his gentle movements. Plucking one person after another from inside, removing their pressure from the building as it attempted to fall in.

"Come on… come on!" I grunted, shoving my body forward to move a flaming pile of rock away from him as he carried the last person to safety. My breaths were labored as my arms dropped down, the building imploding at the very moment, that spider kid protecting the others from the flames.

"Oh my god." I glanced up from my shadowy corner, a few people who must have heard my shout turned to see me. I nodded, face distorted with my hood, before I darted off, back and away from any cameras to those who I knew were waiting for me.

"Rachel!" Rough banging rang through my room as I slid in through the window and shut it quietly behind me.

"Sorry!" I whipped open my door, Ned almost falling in as I stepped back. "Oh my god, sorry I just… the fire." He nodded slowly.

"Yeahh." He mumbled, standing back up straight. "We were just worried about you, Peter ran out just after you did." I furrowed my brows.

"Did he? Is he back?" He nodded, gesturing with his thumb down the stairs.

"Yeah, just got back a moment ago." I nodded, clicking back my hair with a slightly trembling hand.

"I'm glad. Okay, back to fun night!" I grabbed Ned by the wrist, pulling him back down to see Peter and MJ staring at the screen showing recaps of Spider-Man and Shock Wave at the fire.

"The only sighting of Shock Wave was after the house collapsed. Some say it fell just as they did, leading them to believe they were holding the building up. Others think Spider-man is working with this new hooded hero, we can only guess." I grabbed the remote, shutting off the news much to MJ's dismay.

"Hey, we were watching that!" She barked, attempting to snatch the remote out of my hands. Luckily she was say on the ground and I was tall so that didn't do her much good.

"Nope, no more depressing stuff. Movie time." I tossed my copy of a christmas Carol into the player and turned the television back on to the animated clasic.

"Okay, how is this not depressing?" She grumbled, pulling her box of mysteries back over as she lost interest.

"Happy ending." I retorted, Ned quirking an eyebrow at that.

"The majority of it is dead ghosts reprimanding an old guy for being a jerk, showing his depressing life, and scaring the shit out of him." He said, crossing his arms.

"Plus all the people got out of the fore, that's a pretty happy ending in my opinion." MJ added, waving a picture of a crime scene at me.

Peter stuck up his hands, locking a wide hand around my elbow and dragging me down to the couch next to him, where we were before the incident. "Hey, give her a break guys. Besides, this is animated." He stuck his hand in a bucket of popcorn before handing it off to Ned, giving me a big buttery smile as I snuggled into his shoulder.

"Shut up." I murmured, taking in his scent of fire and cinnamon. He laughed slightly, pulling one of the many blankets off of the couch and covering the both of us in it.

"Oh, that reminds me." He whispered, Ned and MJ now sucked into their respective projects. Peter shifted, pulling a small box out from beside him and handing it over to me. "Merry Christmas Rae." I glanced up at him, opening up the box to reveal a small chain. It had a locket hung on it, a picture inside of the four of us, about two weeks after I moved. It was still November, fall leaves in the background as MJ jumped up on my shoulders, purple curls flying in Ned's face and Peter pulling a ridiculously adorable face as we did so. "You like it." He asked as I held the delicate silver object in my hands.

"Like it? I love it!" I whispered, throwing my arms around him in a tight hug. "Thanks Pete, it means the world to me." I could feel the heat from his face on my neck as we held each other in the embrace for a moment longer before I released and sat back to look at his adorable puppy dog eyes. "I actually got you something too, it's up in my room though, can I?" He nodded, peeling the covers off of my lap as I mouthed a thank you, carefully walking past Ned to avoid stepping on one of his Lego pieces. As soon as I reached the top of the stairs I scrambled into my room, removing a box from under my bed and pulling out his present.

Quickly I made my way back, rolling over the top of the couch and landing back next to Peter.

"Here you go!" I said in a quite triumph. He took the box, opening it and smiling brightly as he looked on it.

"You didn't…" he mumbled, running a hand along the smooth metal.

"I did. You just have to know the right guy." He giggled with glee as he looked over it. A mint condition signed first edition picture of Tony Stark with his first invention. He was practically glowing, eyes shining with excitement. He laid it gingerly back down in the box, closing it up and placing it to the side.

"Rachel, how could I ever-"

"Oh, don't sweat it Parker." He leaned forward ever so slightly, eyes strained south of where mine were. "What are friends for?"

I cleared my throat, taking my necklace out of my pocket and placing it around my neck. "I'll never take it off. And with that my eyes seemed to draw heavy. Peter's arm returned to around my shoulders, my head nuzzling down onto his chest, watching the ghost of christmas past tell Scrooge he still had a chance to change.
