It had been about a month since I started at Midtown, a small group of not so bad people making the stay a lot nicer than I expected. MJ and I had bonded over our fascination with the weird. Ned was still after me in the slightest, but with everything that had happened since then I believe he has finally gotten the hint, and Peter? Well, we've been closer than I would like to admit. No matter what would happen, he just somehow made me smile, but that night had seemed to leave him behind and hold me back with it.

"Someone claims that Shock Wave was spotted across town like a week ago." Ned slammed down his phone on Peter's kitchen table, scrolling to a blurry image of a rock above the ground. I rolled my eyes, the fakeness of the photo making nessie look real.

"Yeah, okay there Ned, if you want to believe that isnt a rock on a string, you can do that. But I for one know that isn't real."

"Oh yeah?" Peter raised his eyebrows at me, snuggling into a cup of hot tea his aunt had made. "What makes you so sure of that Maddex?" I bit the inside of my lip, narrowing my eyes at the mischievous boy. If only I could wipe that smug look off of his face without spilling my serious can o' beens.

"I just am. Proof isnt needed when the evidence against me is so obviously fake." I stuck out my tounge, leaning back in the chair as I waited for the backlash.

"Uh huh, well I'm just going to have to take Neds word for it, after all that is a real rock, how else could it get there?"

"Sting, someone threw it PHOTO SHOP!! There are literally so many options it makes my head spin just thinking about it." I pressed two fingers to my right temple to increase the effect of my statement. Peter grinned his big stupid grin as he grabbed the phone from Ned to inspect the picture.

"But isnt one of the possibilities that it's real? Just a bad photo or maybe a dirty camera lense? Plus, I'm the one who saw Shock Wave in person, this looks pretty similar." Now I was getting a bit offended with the patronizing. That piece of dirt was nothing like what I could do with the flu, never mind fighting for my life or the safety of others.

"Thin ice parker, better watch your mouth when arguing with me." Quite obviously I wasnt serious, but he stood, playfully brandishing his fists at me as Ned looked on in glee.

"Care to put your money where your mouth is Rae?" I huffed slightly, letting my eyes scan him up and down.

"You cant be serious Peter, you against me? I'll be signing your death certificate." Nedchuckled to himself, grabbing his own tea for safe keeping and backing away from the spot of action. Peter nodded as I rose. He bounced back and forth on the balls of his feet like a pro boxer as I raised my own fists. I bit my top lip, dodging his first two punches easily. "Wow, for someone who grew up in queens, I'd think you'd have more fight in you!" I teased, his eyes narrowing but lips still pulled into a grin.

"Oh now your gonna get it!" He leaped forward, my body diving down and letting his scratch to a halt behind me, throwing a soft punch to my left arm as I curled around and grabbed it before he could back away. My foot curled behind his back leg, pulling it away and undoing his balance. He laughed slightly, using my grip on his arm to slide between my outstreached legs and flip me onto the ground. Not two seconds later he was ontop of me, holding down my wrists.

"Not bad Parker." I grinned as his shaggy hair hung over my face. I flipped, right leg laced around d his torso and pushing him down, face to the hardwood floor and arms pinned behind him. "But dont get distracted by my pretty face next time, okay?" I patted him twice on the back before standing up and dusting off my shirt.

I glanced over at Ned, standing there dumbfounded with his cup of tea loosely hanging in his hands. "Whoa.." I laughed slightly, grabbing his mug and setting it down just in case.

"What? Never seen a girl kick ass before?" I asked, turning back to Peter who was holding shoulder slightly with a look of pain and hurt pride on his face. My heart dropped as I saw him. "Oh, Peter, I am so sorry did I hurt you?" I shuffled over, placing two gentle fingers on his shoulder, just above his collar bone and pulling back the shirt to reveal a large bruise, one that obviously was not fresh.

"Oh god, Parker what did you do?" I traced the outside edge of it, guilt filling my stomach as he grabbed my hand gently, pulling it slowly down until his hand was just holding mine between us. His eyes sparkled a bit, even as the pain was still resting there.

"Its nothing, really. I just fell down the stairs the other day, caught myself wrong on the banister." I held the image of the purple and yellow fist shaped bruise on his shoulder. He looked at me, worry crossing his face. He knew I didnt believe him, and unfortunatly that would have to be enough for me right now.

"Still," I bit the inside of my lip as guilt racked me mind. His doe brown eyes were softer now, the pained look gone as he stared into my own. I slipped my hand out from his, the air cold around my naked palm, "sorry. You should have told me first."

He grinned, the pain subsided for the most part as I could tell. "Well, what I should have done is not tried to fight you in the first place. You've been holding out on us Maddex!" He pushed my shoulder as I hung my head with a little grin.

"It's not something you bring up in normal conversation. I'll tell you what, next time I have some crazy awsome secret I'll tell you before I use it to beat your ass, does that sound good to you?" He crossed his arms over his chest as I wrinkled up my nose in a grin.

"Fine, deal."
