The Vocaloid engines are what makes the song come to life in a way. It's the first step to it coming alive, anyways. By selecting a character, placing down notes or inserting an MIDI file, typing in lyrics and tuning the Vocaloid. It's the one half of the heart that makes the song come alive.
The Vocaloid engine is avilable on Mac, Windows, and believe it or not, Apple devices as well with the app called iVocaloid. It may not be as powerful as the computer engines but it simulates in a way what the PC engines are like. It still functions the same way as the computer engines but has limited voicebanks. I'm not sure what voicebanks iVocaloid has preinstalled but I'm sure there's quite a few in there.
