A screeching sound filled Lauren's ears as she jolted awake. She looked around to see that she was still in the cold and lonely dimension and that none of it was a dream.

The noise became louder and her first instinct was to run the other way, so she jumped through the window and ran, not daring to even look behind her.

She ran as if her life depended on it, and as she reached the woods she couldn't take it anymore.

Lauren dropped to her knees as she gasped in a deep breath, then she studied her surroundings.

She sat against a tree and hugged her legs as she tried to regain her breath.

She didn't move because she was terrified. Terrified of ending up like Barb.

'she didn't die for nothing' Lauren thought.

The young girl closed her eyes and let out a long breath as she remembered her best friend. She thought about how much easier it would've been if Barb didn't run the other way.

But she knew why Barb did it. She did it for her. She died so she can live.

When she opened her eyes it was dark again and that made her shiver with fear. But then she heard multiple sounds echo through the woods, the screeching of the monster and multiple shouts.

"Jonathan!"

She knew exactly who that voice belonged to.

Nancy.

"Nancy!"

She heard Jonathan's voice echo as well.

Lauren hurriedly stood up.

"NANCY! JONATHAN!" she screamed at no one in particular. Her voice was strained and laced with desperation. She wanted nothing more than to be out of that hellhole.

She looked around frantically, trying to figure out where her friend's voice came from.

"Lauren! Lauren! Where are you?" she heard Nancy's shocked voice.

"I'm here! Nancy please I'm scared" she told her friend as tears rolled down her cheeks.

"Lauren!" Nancy said before the screeching noise came too close.

That's when the alarm in Lauren's head urged her to drop it and run. 'don't let her die for nothing' her inner self told her.

"I need to run! I don't know what this place is but please help me!" Lauren said as she ran through the forest trying to run as fast as she can.

When Nancy stepped through to the upside down, she didn't see a trace of her best friends. But when she hid behind the tree from the Demogorgon she noticed a necklace on the floor.

It was Lauren's necklace, the one she never took off. Nancy held onto the necklace and at that moment she felt hope burst within her.

After a while of running, Lauren found herself in Nancy's neighborhood.

She jumped through the window into the Wheeler's house and closed it behind her. She walked through and decided to go to the basement.

She slowly pushed the basement door open, and walked down the stairs. But to her surprise, she saw a shadow of someone lying down on the basement couch.

As she got closer to the couch, the shadow started to get clearer. And when she recognized who it was she physically felt her jaw drop.

"Will"

Will Byers slowly opened his eyes to see none other than Lauren Henderson standing above him. At first he thought that it was all over and that he was finally going to heaven.

But then he recognized the tainted walls and the darkness that surrounded him and he realized that they were still in the upside down. And when he saw Lauren's shocked expression, he deduced that she was stuck here as well and didn't expect to run into the Byer's boy.

"Lauren" he whispered, the gratefulness in his tone broke Lauren's heart.

As soon as he said it he jumped into Lauren's arms and she didn't hesitate to wrap her arms around the young boy.

"You're okay, Will. I promise we're going to make it out of here" Lauren whispered to him when she heard the boy sob.

Will pulled away and nodded, believing the teen that had no idea what they were going to do.

The two sat down on the couch as Will told her how he ended up here. He talked until he was out of words and Lauren nodded through all of it.

"I remember seeing you" he said after a while. "When you were at the school, in the bathroom" he explained when he saw Lauren's confused eyes.

"Oh yeah... so it was you" she smiled at the young boy. "I just don't understand how I was there. How was I able to see you?" Lauren asked Will, despite knowing that he would be just as clueless as her.

"How are Dustin, Mike and Lucas?" Will asked. Lauren could sense the pain in his voice and her heart ached for him.

"They're going crazy without you, Will" she told him and he smiled the saddest smile she'd ever seen. "Like seriously... its concerning" she continued and the two laughed.

"I just don't want to feel anymore" Will blurted out suddenly. "What do you mean?" Lauren asked shifting on the couch to face him.

"When you're stuck here all you feel is fear or sadness. I don't want to feel anymore Lauren. It hurts" he said as tears rolled down his cheeks.

"I understand" she said.

Soon Will started to fall asleep. Lauren looked at the wall as she thought about everyone she loved.

"I wish I didn't have to feel anything too, buddy" she told no one in particular.
