I lost my way all the way to you and in you i found all the way back to me
~Atticus
Lauren Henderson lived an extraordinary life, at least that's how she liked to describe it.
Until it all went downhill.

Lauren hated the night.
After being stuck in the upside down, she would wake up screaming and crying. Dustin and her mom would be by her side in seconds, calming her down, telling her that the nightmare was over.
Some nights she'd wake up and her first instinct was to run.
So she did. She ran most mornings. Sometimes at dawn when she first woke up from the nightmares. Sometimes in the rain, once or twice when it snowed...Hopper had found her on the way to work, drove her back home and lectured her about her getting sick if she did that again.
Lauren ran like her life depended on it...because at some point it did.
It was clear, a part of her will always feel like she's stuck in the Upside Down.
Other than that, she spent the summer reading, exchanging books weekly with Jonathan and talking about the books. She hung around Nancy, Steve, and occasionally Jonathan would join and she noticed the tension between him and Nancy was so thick she could cut it with a knife... Steve being totally oblivious about it made Lauren want to slap him even more... but it wasn't her business so she occasionally gave Nancy a 'this is eventually gonna blow up in your face look' which Nancy returned with her expert 'i have no idea what you're talking about' look.
The morning of the first day back to school, Lauren lied on her bed staring at the ceiling as the sun started revealing itself.
She didn't have to tell anyone that she barely slept you could clearly see it on her face.
Her door burst open and Dustin walked in... hair tousled and messy, eyes still puffy from sleep. He looked at his sister and smiled when she sat up to face him. "Good you're awake" He said as he walked into her room.
"Geez Dustin...the least you could do is knock" she said as she pulled her messy hair from her face and looked at him. "Okay so it's the first day of school and I need help" he said nicely and Lauren tilted her head in thought.
"Help with what, dingus?" she asked with a shadow of a smile. "Ummm...don't laugh" he started and Lauren furrowed her eyebrows in question.
He played with a loose button on his sleep wear shirt as he clearly struggled to get the words out of his mouth
"I...I don't know what to wear"
Lauren's smile grew, then she laughed.
