20. The End

5 years later

Tyler sits waiting, anxiously twisting his wedding ring around his finger. Jenna is on one side of him and Brendon is on the other. The two of them are watching the television, blissfully unaware of the panic bubbling inside Tyler's chest.

What if she doesn't like him?

What if he ends up doing a terrible job?

What if Josh ends up being her favorite!?

"We're home!" Josh announces.

Tyler jolts up and races to the door before the older can even shut it. Any bit of anxiety he was feeling completely vanishes when he sees their new baby girl asleep in Josh's arms.

The adoption process was extensively long, arduous, and expensive. It has been almost three years now since the two men had began looking into adopting. Everything is worth it in that moment, though, as Josh smiles at his husband and places baby Addison in his arms. Tyler holds the four-month-old carefully, afraid of making any sudden movements and waking her.

"She's beautiful," Jenna says softly, placing her hand on Tyler's shoulder as she gazes over him and at the baby.

"Damn, you guys are actual dads now," Brendon says, causing everybody to chuckle. "I get to be her uncle, right?"

"And I can be her aunt?" Jenna asks, the two of them looking at Josh and Tyler with puppy eyes.

"Duh," Tyler answers, cradling Addison against his chest as the four walk into the living room to sit down.

Addie already has her own room set up. It's princess themed (Tyler's request) and full of pinks, whites, and golds. They went a little overboard with buying her cute clothes and toys, but everything fit into her bedroom in the end.

"Well, what's the next big move, boss?" Jenna asks, sitting on the loveseat beside Brendon.

"To get a cat!" Tyler answers, grinning up at his husband. Josh sighs, his arm falling over the back of the couch.

"I'd prefer a dog."

"Why not both?" Brendon suggests, laughing when Tyler gasps loudly.

He turns to Josh with wide eyes, mouth slightly ajar. "Please can we? Please? Addie needs some furry friends to grow up with," he tries to reason, looking to the sleeping girl in his arms.

"Okay, fine. Maybe," Josh mutters, unable to hide his smile when Tyler lets out a little squeal. "Shh, you'll wake her up."

Josh maneuvers Addison from Tyler's arms into his own, which the latter is secretly grateful for because his arms were starting to hurt. He smiles as he watches Josh brush his fingertips over what little hair their baby girl has. When he turns to talk to Jenna, he finds her and Brendon playfully poking at each other's sides which only makes his smile grow.

Yeah, that whole situation with Ben back in Florida only lasted basically the entirety of their trip. When they returned home, Jenna ended up ghosting him because she found out he had a girlfriend the whole time they were hooking up in Florida.

But things are better now; they're great actually. Her and Brendon really hit it off and spend a lot, a lot, of time together. Tyler doesn't know why they don't just date already, but he can't complain too much because it just means now he gets to hang out with two of his friends instead of one when Josh is at work.

All of this also means that Brendon is recovering smoothly. He also has Jenna now, on top of Josh and Tyler, to keep him on the right track. Over the past five years, Brendon has only relapsed three times, one of which was pretty serious. But other than those small blips, he actually seems to be happy.

Tyler never would have expected his life to turn out this way back when he worked at that shitty Starbucks (which is now closed, by the way) and lived in that shitty house (which ended up getting sold to an elderly couple).

He didn't picture himself here, in a literal mansion, sitting next to his husband (who is the actual love of his life) and daughter while his best friends flirt beside them.

But apparently, those are just some of the perks of finding a sugar daddy.
