Calla knocked on her father office door loudly until he opens up. Owen has two offices, one at home and one in the Royal Castel. The one Calla and Rory visited is the one in the Castle.
Owen look at Calla and saw that behind her was Rory. He becomes unhappy and quickly pulls his daughter into his office and closing the door in front of Rory's face.
Rory star at the door closing at his face and he couldn't do anything about it so he left leaving Calla with her father. He understands that Owen does not like him being with his daughter since he's a guy. He could tell from Owen unhappy face the moment he sees him. Rory sigh and left to go home.
Calla's eyes widen as his father shut the door in front of Rory's face. She was kinda mad that her father treated the person who brings her to his office like that. Calla looks at her father with a furious face and asks, "How can you do that?"
Owen turns to his daughter and answer, "He's dangerous." For some reason, he does not know why but he does not like Rory. He have this feeling that one day he will take away his daughter from him and he did not want that.
"He's my friends," Calla replies. Even though they were not really close, Rory had been with her and Daisy since elementary so she can consider him a friend. Whenever they needed people in a group, Rory would always be the first to join them. He had helped her and Daisy a lot.
"He's a boy," her father explains.
"So," this time Calla was furious. Just because Rory is a boy she could not befriend with him. "Daisy is a girl how come brother can be friends with her, but I cannot be friends with Rory?"
Owen wanted to say something but he doesn't know how to rebut his daughter question. She was right if his son could befriend a girl than his daughter could befriend with a boy as well. He sighs and changes the topic. "Why are you here, princess?"
When Owen ask the question, Calla recalls the real reason why she came to see her father. "Papa, I come here because I need your help."
Owen's eyes widen with shock. He was thinking that it can't be that his daughter needs help with pursuing Rory, right?
"It about the arrest of Daisy adopted parents," Calla continues.
He was relived, he was glad his daughter was not asking him about chasing a man. Wait, this is not the time to be relived. His daughter asks for his help and as a father, he needs to help her. "What about their arrest?" Ask Owen.
"I just want to make sure that you arrest the right people." Calla voice out her concern.
"What makes you think I'm arresting the wrong people?" Owen intensely stares at his daughter.
"It just that," Calla pause and look around to make sure no one was in her father office and when she saw no one she continues. "In the story it never mentions, Daisy adopted parents doing anything to hurt her, instead they did everything in their power to protect her."
Owen sigh, "Princess, this is the real world, not the book anymore. It might be true that the book never mentions the princess adopted parents trying to control her, but that does not mean it does not happen. Book does not tell you everything you need to know. Did you also not mention that the story had many plots holds. One of those holes may be the princess adopted parents." Owen look at her daughter and pointed her toward a seat in front of his desk.
When her father asked her to sit, Calla knows that her father has a lot to talk to her about. She took her seat and her father did as well.
"So, princess, tell me about the story again," Owen request. Maybe there is something in his daughter story that will help him find the person behind the princess kidnapping and idea of manipulating her.
Calla listens to her father and tells the story plot again, however, this time her father stop her when she gets to the part where the story Calla betray her whole family.
"Why did Calla," he pause and realizes, Calla is his daughter so he changes his word. "I mean, why did the story Calla decided to betray her family." Ever since he first heard his daughter story he had always wondered about it. His daughter never really explain the reason.
"I don't know," Calla answer in an uncertainty. She had never thought about it. Now that her father mentions it, she realizes something. There is a mastermind behind everything, but who. What would the person gain from it? Calla looks at her father and he nodded at her, showing that he was thinking the same thing as her.
They sit there in silence, trying to think who would want to take overthrow the king and queen. It a constitutional monarchy, however, the royal family do have treasure thousands of years old and those are priceless, but can't be sell. Someone would notice right away. Even the black market wouldn't take them. The royal family also own some jewelry shop and they were the number one jewelry owner. Their jewels were beautiful as well as magical. They are worth a lot of money.
Calla slaps herself in the head. Of course, she realized, it was the money. But would money really be enough to make a person goes through the trouble of kidnapping Daisy and manipulating her into taking over the kingdom, while they control her in the background? No, money was not the real reason. Then what is it?
Think. Think. Daisy keeps telling herself. Think back to the description at the beginning of the story. In the story, it tell the story of the king and queen role. If she was not mistaken even though the kingdom was a constitutional monarchy, the king and queen still had some power. They are the ones who make had the last said when their minsters had a disagreement. Sometimes they can use the royal degree if they feel like the minsters are making the wrong decision. The royal degree has a lot of power.
Power. Power. That it. Calla looks at her father and excitedly said, "Father, I know what the mastermind want."
She looks at her father and shouted, "Power. Mastermind wants power. He wants a royal decree. The royal decree is the most power degree in all the kingdom."
"You might be right," Owen sigh. "However, what does the mastermind want the royal degree for."
"I do not know," Calla answer sadly.
Owen looks at her daughter and was about to say something, however when he saw Calla sad face, he smiles and patted her head. "Well let just go home and take a rest for today. We'll talk about this tomorrow, I promise."
Calla stands up and follows her father to the door still thinking about what the mastermind want.
Owen knew what the mastermind want, but he does not want to tell his daughter about it. She already had enough to worry about. Also if he tells his daughter, he knew she will not rest.
Even if he does not tell her, he knew she will figure it out sooner or later. He wants her to figure it out on her own. She is a very smart girl. He does remember his daughter telling him about how average she was, but she was beyond average. She never forgets anything she once rememberers.
