"Mom, have you seen my blue hair band?" Lilith called as she dug through her drawers.
They had been living in Ireland for a few days now and most of Lil's stuff was still being delivered in box loads. That included most of her clothes and other such accessories. Frantically she searched through every where she could think of, desperate to find her favorite hair piece.
"Isn't it the box with your other hair things?" Margaret replied.
Lil brushed her untamed curls out of her face with her fingers, "No. It's gone missing."
"Try looking in your purse. You might have tossed it in there."
Lil ran over to her brown messenger bag that was hung on the back of her closet door. She stuck her hand inside and rummaged through the pockets. To her delight, the blue hair band was safely tucked away in one of the pockets.
"Found it. Thanks mom!"
She walked over to her dresser and stared into the mirror. She put the band around her neck and pulled it up so that it was sitting just behind her ears. The blue color complimented her eyes and stood out against her vibrant hair color.
Lil was also wearing the flower necklace from Australia and she positioned it in the middle of her neck.
As she admired herself in the mirror, she noticed the snowglobe out of the corner of her eye. She rubbed a finger against the glass and picked it up in her hands. Peter had never showed up last night, and Lil was dreadfully disappointed. The more she thought of him, the more she wondered if it had ever really happened. Maybe she had been dreaming, and Peter wasn't real. But then she'd look back at the snowglobe, and her theory went out the window. He was real. And he had been here. How many times must she repeat this to herself before she believes it.
"But why didn't he come back?" Lil whispered as she placed it on the dresser.
She grabbed her phone, checked herself in the mirror one last time, and headed out the door. The Darling home was right up the street, not too far of a walk.
And that was another thing that made her curious. The similarity at their names. How could they have the same exact names as the story, and not know the meaning behind them? And how could Peter possibly not know?
Well, that was a question she'd have to ask Peter.
"If he ever comes back." She sighed.
As Lil paced up the stone pathway, her heart fluttered. She was going to see Jonathan again today. What would he say to her? Would he be angry about yesterday? Surprised? Embarrassed? Or would he say nothing at all, and simply ignore what happened?
"It doesn't matter anyway," She told herself as she rang their doorbell, "Today is about Wendi."
Speaking of Wendi, she opened the door with a gigantic grin on her face, "Hey there, neighbor!"
"Hi." Lil smiled back.
"Come on in! I think I have a pretty good idea of what we can do today."
Lil stepped inside and followed Wendi out to the backyard.
Walking through their house, she could see it was completely different from hers. Instead of a grand ceiling, their's was low and had small light fixtures. The walls were painted a cream color and the floor was made of a dark wood. The main hallway from the front door had four doors along the walls. Wendi explained that the first one is hers, the one across from that is Mike's, then there was a bathroom, and their parents room.
