Following his footsteps ( Inuyasha fanfiction)

“How dare you!” Sesshomaru roared in vehemence as his eyes turned red again. Sesshomaru barely had enough time to duck, as Akako threw a spear which managed to cut his left shoulder. The daiyokai shuddered slightly in pain. Akako was going to pay for killing Inuyasha. Staring coldly at his mate’s assassin, Sesshomaru lunged forward. His claws raked through the air, hitting Akako in the chest and knocking him back slightly. “I can easily see how the death of Inuyasha has taken a toll on you,” Akako sniggered, giving the daiyokai a hard blow to the head before stepping back. “You bastard!” Sesshomaru snarled, recovering from the knock-back. The daiyokai slowly got to his feet. "Oh, looks like someone's angry..." Akako hissed. “I’ll run you through with my claws a million times if I have to, just to make sure you don’t take another breath ever again” Sesshomaru vowed darkly, flexing his claws. “I hate Incest, it’s absolutely sickening” Akako growled. Sesshomaru only scoffed before diving forward again and punching Akako’s chest hard enough to make the southern lord cough up blood. “Your opinion doesn’t really matter right now” Sesshomaru hissed. Akako fell backward, slumping against the wall. His blue, glassy eyes fixed on the Western lord in front of him.   “You could have helped us…my father and I. If we combined the Southern lands and Western lands….” Akako gasped. “We…would have been unbeatable….” Sesshomaru narrowed his eyes and snarled at Akako. “Fool, I don’t need help from others to become powerful. If I want more power I’ll gain it myself”.

But his words fell into deaf ears. “That hanyou ruined the whole plan!” Akako continued. Before Sesshomaru could even move, Akako had jumped to his feet, and pushed the daiyokai backward towards the glass window.  Sesshomaru’s eyes widen when his blood-covered hand came in contract with the smooth surface of the window. He was trapped. Suddenly Akako was in front of him again, lifting Sesshomaru by the collar of his kimono and forced him into the glass. Head hitting hard.  Sesshomaru hissed and tried to push the southern lord off of him but Sesshomaru couldn't get him off as Akako slammed him into the glass again and again. What was this moron's problem? Was he so upset about his plan being spoiled by Inuyasha? Was killing the hanyou and him really the answer? Growling in anger, Sesshomaru tilted his head in hopes that he could wriggle out of the lord’s grasp. Baring his fangs, he struggled forcefully. However, Akako just continued to smash the daiyokai’s head against the glass, causing the daiyokai to feel disoriented and numb. He was strong, he could take this, but it would only be a matter of time before his body couldn't heal in the short time it normally did. The moment he hit that point he would be done for. “Wait for me, Inuyasha” he whispered in his head, “I’ll be joining you soon”.

"After I'm done with you Lord Sesshomaru, “Akako smirked. “I’m going to set this castle on fire and watch it burn to the ground.” Akako laughed evilly.  

Suddenly a cracking sound made the two lords freeze. The window was slowly cracking due to the weight of the two bodies suddenly coughing came from behind Sesshomaru. Slightly turning, Sesshomaru eyes widen with delight to see the slow movement of Inuyasha’s chest going up and down. “He’s alive!”

Akako watched with dismay at the hanyou who was slowly climbing to his feet. Didn’t he kill that hanyou a few seconds ago? How did he survive?  He noticed the daiyokai’s golden eyes staring at him with triumph. “You can’t get of rid my mate that easily, he’s a fighter” Sesshomaru said.

“What’s your name?”

“That’s an irrelevant question” came the angry answer.

He could hear something in the distance, but he couldn't feel anything to indicate that this was even reality.

A bright white light was shining faintly.

“Come back to me...”

That voice sounded familiar. 

“The name is Sesshomaru”

Sesshomaru? Who was that again? That name….

“I’ll protect you...my Inuyasha

“Don’t leave me…”

“INUYASAH!

The light was getting closer...

His heart pumped once and then stopped again. Colour returned for only a moment behind his eyes before going black again.

“You look beauteous….”

“No mate of mine will cry in my present”

One more pump, one more splash of colour and reality before it slipped away from him again. He reached out into the darkness, trying to grab at something, anything to pull him back. His head throbbed, his heart was numb. “Someone help me!’ he silently cried.

“I just want you to be safe...”

“I feel useless if I can’t help”

“You’re not useless Inuyasha”

Finally colour was returning. His heart pumped faster until it was beating at a steady pace.

“Sesshomaru!”

Warmth travelled down his body. The light was like a shining star, filling his vision.

“I love you”

“I love you more, little brother…”

“Follow…in….my…footsteps…..

Eyelids flung open, revealing golden eyes. He sat up slowly, a quiet groan falling from his lips. The side of his head throbbed for only a moment before it vanished. Slowly pulling himself to his feet, he could hear the sound of someone grunting as the glass somewhere behind him cracked and cracked. He swayed to the left and then slightly to the right as he turned around slowly. His golden eyes fell on the white-haired man. “Sesshomaru…”

Suddenly Sesshomaru felt himself falling. The glass window had finally shattered. Akako tried to recoil but a pale, clawed hand grabbed his arm. “Where do you think you’re going?” Sesshomaru snarled before pulling the southern lord with him.

Sesshomaru managed to look up to see golden eyes full of horror watching him fall.  “Sesshomaru!” Inuyasha screamed. Sesshomaru closed his eyes.

“Be safe, Inuyasha, my beautiful Inuyasha
