Yoongi had never been in such a rush to be somewhere before. The second Jungkook sent him the location, Yoongi was heading out the door, having slipped on a pair of shoes and not bothering to change out of his pajamas. He didn't really think about it. The only thing on his mind was making sure Jungkook got home safely.

And that the boy wasn't scared and alone anymore.

Because now, Yoongi felt needed by him again. He didn't mind that feeling at all.

In roughly half an hour's time, he was pulling his car up to an empty spot in the McDonald's parking lot, and it was now, as he climbed out of the driver's seat, that he registered he hadn't changed clothes.

And yeah, he regretted it a little. But then he thought, whatever, I'm not sticking around, I'm just here for the kid.

With this thought in mind and a slight blush on his cheeks, Yoongi hurried through the rain and into the restaurant. He spotted a bike chained to a post outside so he knew this was the right one.

His eyes scanned the place looking for one person and nothing else. Surely enough, he found Jungkook, sitting alone at one of the tables. There were only a few other people here. Jungkook's eyes lifted abruptly at the sound of the door opening and closing. He stood up.

"Hyung."

That soft, shaky whisper of relief struck Yoongi's ears as much as it did his heart. He made no hesitation to approach the boy and embrace him, oh so tightly, once again forgetting about what he was wearing, and also that his clothes were now a bit wet from the rain. Not extremely so, and Jungkook surely didn't mind - he was more so shocked Yoongi had gotten here so quickly, and that the older had been so quick to hug him.

It felt so warm. Yoongi's arms. The kind, gentle hand now pressed against the back of his head. And Yoongi smelled nice. The smell of rain, mixed with whatever scent the man had showered with prior to showing up here.

Thankfully he didn't let go as soon as Jungkook thought he would. The embrace prolonged nicely.

"Hyung, I'm sorry-"

"Don't apologize to me." Sighing deeply, Yoongi at last pulled away from the hug, placing his hands on the boy's shoulders as he looked sternly yet tenderly into Jungkook's eyes. "Are you alright?"

Guiltily, the boy nodded and avoided Yoongi's fixed gaze.

"Are you lying to me?"

"No..."

"Then why do you look so upset?"

He sounded so genuinely concerned, and so sweet, and Jungkook felt near to tears at that moment but he really did not want to cry in front of Yoongi again. So he held them in.

"Didn't you have a good day, Jungkook?"

"I did," the younger insisted, his voice low. "I just..."

He hesitated as Yoongi's gaze only grew stronger and more attentive.

"...I wish I could be more like you, hyung."

He hadn't expected this to be the boy's response. Spoken so softly, in undertone, as though he knew it wasn't something Yoongi would want to hear. But he was being honest, and what saddened Yoongi was that he could hear that honesty.

"Jungkook, no..." Failing at first to find his words, Yoongi resorted to sighing again. "First of all, you really don't, second, why on earth would you say that?"

"Why wouldn't I?" Jungkook replied. He kept his head down shamefully, and this little action of his did things to Yoongi's fragile heart. "You're smart, and cool, and kind, and responsible, you stopped whatever you were doing just to come out here because I screwed up and was too scared to go home on my own...I really am just a kid..."

Those last few words rung like a bell, an ear-shattering bell in Yoongi's head, a reverberating pang of guilt that made him want to bash his head against a wall, at least for a moment. Instead, he extended his hand to take Jungkook's, then spun around and pulled the boy along firmly all the way over to his car, urging him to get in the passenger's side. Yoongi climbed in behind the steering wheel.

There was silence after that. For about a solid minute, just silence. Jungkook stared at his bike which was still chained to the post outside.

"I'm the one who owes you an apology."

At this, Jungkook's attention so suddenly shifted. "What? Hyung, no-"

"I call you kid because that's just something I do," Yoongi interrupted, exhausted with himself, "not because-" He put his head in his hands for a moment. "-not because I see you as a kid, okay? I even call Jimin 'kid' sometimes and he's my age. So that's not-...that's not at all what I meant, it's partially my fault you feel that way, I'm so sorry."

He lowered his hands and placed them on the steering wheel.

"Maybe in the start, I did think you were a kid, but really, it's just a term of endearment now."

It grew quiet again. This time, though, it wasn't tense, and Jungkook didn't feel guilty now, but rather touched. And again, as happened a little too often when it came to Yoongi these days, his heart just felt warm.

More so when he noticed the presence of a red hue on Yoongi's cheeks.

"Yoongi hyung...?"

He didn't answer right away. Fearing the boy would bring up either his pajamas or his face, Yoongi changed the subject. "I don't think your bike would fit in the car unless we broke it into pieces, but I could always pick up one of those bike strap racks I can use to transport it with. It's chained so it should be okay for the night, right? Or if you're afraid of it being damaged by the rain then-"

"Hyung, are you blushing?"

"I'm not." He took out his keys and started up the car. "And you didn't answer my question."

"I don't really care about the bike, hyung," Jungkook said. "It was already pretty old and rusty, and I've been meaning to get a new one anyway. So if it's not here by tomorrow I won't be sad." He waited a little bit before saying with a smile on his face, "You are blushing, hyung."

"And?" Yoongi scoffed as he began to pull out of his parking spot. "Does that make you happy?"

"Yeah. It's really cute."

Yoongi stopped the car suddenly.

"H-hyung?"

"Sorry. Shouldn't have done that. Put your seatbelt on."

"It is on, Yoongi hyung."

"Good. Should be."

"I like your pajamas, by the way," Jungkook added. "You look so soft. Oh, and you smelled nice. Peaches?"

Yoongi stopped again to lean his forehead on the car horn.

"Y-Yoongi hyung-??"

"Just put your address in on the GPS, Jungkook..."
