The drive to the location, a scenic field on the outskirts of a small city, took several hours which lasted forever to Yoongi - because this time, it wasn't just him and Jungkook. The two sat beside each other in the back of the vehicle, with the younger in between him and Jimin. It was only them three, so there still was a comfortable bit of space to breathe.
From the start of the drive Yoongi trained his eyes outside the window. He figured Jungkook would want to spend the whole time talking with Jimin, and he knew what a huge fan the boy was, so the last thing Yoongi wanted to do was deprive him of the chance to spend time with someone he looked up to. Besides, like Jimin had said, the two were friends now.
This was Jungkook's birthday. As long as he was happy, Yoongi was happy.
"Hyung, are you okay?"
Out of nowhere the question struck his ear. Yoongi turned slowly to face the boy, who now gazed at him tentatively with concern. "Yeah, I'm okay." The older furrowed his brow. "Why?"
"I dunno, you haven't said a word the entire ride." Jungkook glanced away for a moment. "It's been over an hour."
"Nothing's wrong," Yoongi assured him. Gosh his hair is such a mess. He's so cute. "Go ahead and talk to Jimin, I'm not stopping you."
"But hyung, why don't you talk, too?"
If anything, Yoongi could only detect disappointment. And perhaps a hint of sadness, which plinked at his heartstrings.
"If you don't want to, you don't have to," he added a little later, also sadly, "but I did initially want to spend the day with you, remember?"
Yoongi saw Jimin lean forward a bit to smile at him. He sighed.
"I guess," he said softly. "I don't know if I'll be able to fit into you two's conversation, though."
"That's okay, we'll start a new one!" Jungkook eagerly countered. "Suga hyung, what's on your mind?"
"Oh my gosh, he calls you Suga hyung??"
"I'm about to call you an ambulance if you don't stop-"
"Yoongi! You can't threaten me here!"

At long last, the buildings and crowded living areas faded into peaceful, rural landscape, and Jungkook was the first to marvel openly at it. Had Yoongi not already been sitting there, the boy would have had his face pressed up against the glass just to get a better look at it all.
"It's so pretty..."
His eyes sparkled, even just having received a small glimpse of the place from inside the vehicle. To his relief, they were all quickly let out soon after arrival, allowing Jungkook to fully draw in everything - the sweet, fresh air, the sight of a wooden walkway that stretched out between a field of yellow and green, wildflowers everywhere. Behind them a mountain stood in silence.
"Hyung, look at it..."
"I see it, Jungkook." Yoongi smiled fondly at him. "Have you never been outside the city before?"
"No. Not ever."
"Mm. Well, this is a great opportunity for you, isn't it?"
"Yeah..."
He held such light in his expression. Joy in his mile-wide smile. Yoongi wanted to take pictures of him, but he knew that first and foremost, he was here to do his job.
Well, maybe not in his heart. But he had to act like it. And act like Jungkook was merely an assistant.
"Mr. Min, we're ready whenever you are."
