It's Shay's first Thanksgiving, and Brad and I decided that we would decide to have Thanksgiving at our house again this year. I got up early to start to make the turkey and put Shay in her seat on the counter so I could watch her at the same time.

Just as I'm about to put the turkey in the oven Brad walks in the kitchen and takes it from me "I'll get this, it looks heavy."

"Thanks." I back away so he can get it and move over to start to do the dishes before Shay wakes up and starts crying "I have to feed her, can you get the rest of these?" I ask as I pick her up and walk to the table where I can sit.

"Yeah, what all do you have to make?" Brad asks as he finishes the dishes then sits across from me "Are you going to be cooking all day?"

"Not all day." I think about what all I still have to make "I have to make a pie and potatoes, our parents are bringing the rest I think." Shay stops eating so I put her back in her seat and start to make the pie "What time did you tell everyone to be here by?"

Brad takes Shay out of her seat letting her 'stand' on the counter completely ignoring me until I get some water and splash it on him "What did you ask?" He asks me in shock.

"What time did you tell everyone to be here?" I get out what I need a while to make the pie "I need to know so I have everything ready."

"I told them to be here by 2 and we'd probably eat at like 3." He puts Shay back in her seat and walks behind me wrapping his arms around me "The pumpkin smells good. When will it be done?"

I turn around and give him the spoon with a little of the pumpkin on it "In about 2 hours, but you aren't getting any until at least 3."

He frowns trying to look upset and finish the rest of the spoon "You're so mean. This isn't fair."

I finish making the pie, then start on the potatoes then take Shay up with me to take a nap before I have to get the turkey done. She starts screaming like crazy so I get up with her and try to feed her then walk around our room trying to calm her down with no luck. I take her downstairs and walk around a little and even go outside still without any luck. Brad is standing next to me so I giver her to him "I don't know what to do."

He takes her and walks around the kitchen for a little until she calms down her crying enough we can hear each other "Did you try to feed and change her?"

"Both." I stand at the counter getting it ready to take the turkey out of the oven "Maybe if we're lucky she'll cry herself back to sleep."

"Hopefully. If she does she can sleep for another hour before the others get here." He walks around a few more minutes while I finish the turkey before he finally gets her to stop crying "Well, she's not asleep, but she stopped crying."

"As long as she's quiet, that's all that matters." I finish what I have to do with the turkey and move to the table. Brad helps me sort out the silver wear and we start to lay it out. I put all the plates at the seats while he gets glasses and extra napkins for the middle. When I'm done I get Shay to feed her before the others get here, then I help Brad move the turkey and potatoes over to the middle of the table. Everyone gets here shortly after we're done and we all sit around on the couch until we're ready to eat.

"The whole house smells really good. Were you cooking a lot?" Sherry asks me

"Kinda. All I had to do was the turkey, pie and potatoes." I get up to check on everything else then walk back into the living room "Actually, everything is done. We can eat now."

Everyone makes their way to the table sitting down to eat. I bring out the rest of the food then join them all "I hope it's good. I haven't actually cooked a turkey in a while."

"It's all very good." William tells me as he tries it "You did a good job."

"Very good job." Brad agrees with him "You should he proud, you made something while taking care of a screaming baby and don't burn down the house."

"Screaming baby, that's hard." Jane glares at Brad "You could have helped her."

"I helped a little. I'm the one who got her to stop screaming." Brad defends himself "I think that's the first time I've done that."

"She's probably sick of Jen holding her all the time and that's why she cries." My dad says. Joking, of course.

Sherry looks over at me "You did a great job, even with her screaming and if Brad didn't help."

"He helped with her, that was the hardest part." I reassure all of them.

We all finish eating after a while and my dad, Brad and William go in the living room and watch Shay while Jane, Sherry and I clean up.

"Was your mom happy once she finally got to see Shay?" Jane asks as she does the dishes.

I start to take some of the food off the table "Yeah, she was upset she had to leave and couldn't stay for today."

Jane takes the rest of the empty dishes Sherry gives her "Well at least she got to see her now."

Sherry goes back into the dining room and gets the napkins and extras off the table "Your brother said next time he's around here he wants to see you guys."

"I guess the last time was when we were out for dad's dinner thing." I think about if I'm right or not "That was like 4 months ago." I look into the living room and I see Brad holding Shay looking at her as he, my dad and William talk "He's so happy when he has her."

"He was do excited when he found our you were pregnant. I was talking to him about everything that was going on, and he felt like shit, but that made him so happy." Jane walks over and watches them with me "I felt so bad for you at the time."

I stare at Brad holding her whilst I think about what happened about a year ago "I'm just glad everything worked out. It wasn't exactly easy, but it was all worth it."

Sherry walks over so she's standing on the other side of me "I've never seen two people who are as happy with each other as you two are."
