Over the past two weeks, I'd been begging Ryan to take me to meet his dad but he refuses. He's still insisting that he comes over to my house, and he keeps saying no to that too. I keep having to try and explain to my own boyfriend that I miss him when I go home from School, and that we don't spend enough time together. I also miss hanging out with my friends after School, and I think about those girls constantly. I feel like I let them down, but at the same time, why couldn't they just be happy for me? I know Ryan's had a troubled past, but why couldn't we put that aside? I don't know.
One day, I was in Math class when a knock came to the door. Surprise! Surprise! It was Ryan, and I looked up when I recognized the voice.
"Mr. Glantis, there better be a good excuse for you interrupting my class." My teacher folds his arms as he opens the door.
"Actually there is!" He excitedly says.
"I mean, there is.." He changes his tone of voice and demeanor from happy to moderate.
"Go on." The teacher says.
"Casey Brown.. Her mom is in the hospital, and her dad told me to pick her up." Ryan says. I was shocked, freaking out I panicked and stood up.
"Casey, you better get your things and leave right away." He looks straight at me, and I immediately booked it for the door walking straight past Ryan.
I could hear him trying to catch up to me, and shouted my name as I kept up a quick pace down the hallway.
"Hey! Why are you in such a rush?" He finally caught up to me.
"My mother is in the hospital! We need to leave now!" I was terrified, my mom had never had a health scare or ended up in the hospital so I had no idea what I was expecting. Not very long later I ended up outside and began to run.
"Casey stop!" Ryan ran even faster, pulling me back.
"Ryan I'm sorry! I have to go!" I pulled away and was about to run again, until Ryan said something that made my heart skip a beat.
"Your moms fine." He says, and I stopped and turned around.
"What?" I asked.
"She's not in the hospital." He shouts back, since I'm further away. Then I go up to him, obviously confused.
"What do you mean she's not in the hospital!?" I cried.
"I got you a slip so you can get out of class with me!" He excitedly says.
"We're free! Finally fucking free!" He screams, and before I could say anything back, he grabbed my arm and pulled me along as he ran.
As he pulled, and tried pushing further away, until I listened to my heart and began to smile and catch up to him as we frolicked through town giggling and holding hands the faster we went. The craziest part is, it went from a terrifying, then stress inducing experience, to one of the best feelings I had felt in a good long time. After probably 15 to 20 minutes of running alongside each other, we made it to an abandoned building before climbing onto the roof. Once making it on top, Ryan sat next to me and held me while we both stared into the sun.
"Can I ask you something?" I asked, and he looked over and smiled.
"Did you set this up?" I asked again, he nodded.
"Why?" I asked thrice.
"You said you wanted to spend more time together!" He smiles while I laughed.
"And look! We're alone. No one comes over here, this is an abandoned and quiet place with a great view." He tells me.
"So is this like a date?" I ask.
"I guess you can call it that?" He answered.
We sat in silence for a few minutes while holding each other, before I had another question to ask that I've thought about for what seemed like ages now.
"Ryan?" I ask.
"What." He says.
"Why did you decide to go out with me?" I asked, and there was a short pause.
"Well, I don't really know what came over me to be honest." Then he began to explain further.
"But I was hiding my feelings for a while until I overheard you saying that you loved me. Then I sorta just.. Did it." Then he chuckled to himself.
"Ryan..?" I asked something else again almost immediately.
"Can we stay here all night? I really don't wanna leave you here all of a sudden.." I said, because it was one of those moments in life where you just wanna hold on to it as long as you can.
I was always giving the title of 'goodie two-shoes' but tonight, I was with Ryan Glantis himself, and suddenly my reputation could kiss my ass.
"This is what I prepared for!" Then he stood up and leaned over to his book bag and pulled out food, drinks, blankets, etc. He really was preparing to stay there all night with me.
"I couldn't let you get cold if you decided to stay, which I'm so glad you are!" He seemed way to involved in this, like he'd been planning it forever.
"Wow, you are committed!" I shouted in excitement.
"Damn right I am baby." He said, and I was shocked, he'd never called me that before and I liked it.
"How did I ever end up involving myself in something like this.." I said to myself out loud purposely.
"You can't resist your urge to rebel against stupid stereotypes? Is that it?" He smirks at me while laying some blankets down for later before sitting back down next to me.
"I really don't know why I love you.. But I do!" I smiled and looked over at him.
"I don't know how to process that.. Shit!" He sighs sarcastically and I laugh.
"Come here.." I whispered before leaning in for a short kiss.
"My parents are gonna be so worried." I didn't even get to continue before he leaned in again for another.
"Don't worry about them." He whispered passionately as we about locked lips for a second time and for a little longer than the last.
