That late night phone call made my mind race with any possibility. I saw the map, I saw the secrets, I am in complete shock with a bandage on my forehead. I will take a stand and defend the School that did me good.
When I woke up the next morning, I looked over at my alarm clock and realized that it didn't go off. I slept in late! Now I have to rush over to School. My parents weren't home I can assume, because no one stopped me.
I ran as fast as I could to the building and once I made it there, I stood outside the front door to see no one. I went around the back and through the courtyard, once I got in was when I saw Ryan with a huge rifle pointing at Ivy hiding under a cafeteria table.
"Ryan! No!" I shout, and he turns around quickly and shoots me in the shoulder. I hold myself in pain and drop to the ground. I was on my knees in severe pain, my shoulder blade was gushing blood and I opened my eyes to see Ryan kneeling there with me crying. Crying isn't like him, so it must've been a mistake.
"Casey.." His voice broke as his tears fell.
"Please don't do this." I shed a few tears while I tightly compressed my wound. I forgave him right away, but was still begging him not to hurt anyone. Ryan couldn't talk. In fact he full-on cried right then and there, letting all the pain go. After a minute or two, he picked up the gun from his side and pointed it straight at Ivy.
"You!" He yells.
"Help Casey!" He's screaming in anger and panic. Ivy doesn't move and is physically shaking, which seems to anger him even more.
"If you don't help me right now I swear to God I will end this shit right now." He cocked the gun, and she slowly crept over. They both helped me up from the ground, and led me over to an emergency kit. That was the first time in a long time that I'd seen Ivy, and it felt pretty damn good. She grinned nervously at me as she bandaged the wound.
"Hi Casey." She whispers through her anxiety and tears.
"Hey Ivy." I let some more tears fall. But the moment was interrupted by Ryan.
"Now, bring her outside and keep her out there safely.." He actually put the gun down while Ivy tried guiding me out the door, but I refused and weaseled my way out of her grip.
"No." I firmly said to his face.
"I came here to stop you." My tears were uncontrollable, and I had no time to bother wiping them away as I stared into his crescent blue eyes.
"You're better than this baby." I reached out with my bloody hand to touch his chest, as that always seemed to calm him. It didn't work this one time, because he pulled me away by my wrist.
"Well, I am putting my foot down." He said.
"If you stay in this building, you might get hurt again. Go now, and wait outside for me please. He says, with the look of disappointment in his face.
"I saw your sketches." I said.
"Shit." He utters then doing his basic compulsive head scratching.
"Please don't act on this my love." I felt myself crying again, but decided to now wipe them away.
"Go." He says.
"What?" I ask.
"Go!" He screams, I really am trying my hardest not to show any signs of weakness.
"Where!?" I snapped.
"Get away from me." His voice broke.
"I can't." I sob very loudly, completely unable to hold back with everything in me.
"You're not safe." He turns out and reaches up towards his face.
"I should've left you alone in the first place." He drops the gun, and full-on cries.
"Ryan.." I whispered, causing him to turn around again. His eyes are bright red bloodshot.
"Casey.." He whispers back.
"You are going to have a wonderful normal life without me now.. Please go so I don't have to look at your beautiful face anymore!" I just stood there numb, we stared into each others eyes for a brief moment.
"Go.. Home.." His voice dropped from his normal tone, to a much deeper one. My heart tore all the way apart, all these feelings of hurt were so intense that I was left speechless and actually unable to cry despite being completely hydrated. I gracefully nodded my head, and slowly walked out of the front door.
"Ryan?" My voice cracked as I turned around to look at him one last time.
"I love you." I smiled through all the pain.
We had another small moment of looking into each others eyes, and it was like communicating without words of expression.
"I'll never forget you Casey Brown." He finally said.
"Me neither, Ryan No-Good Glantis." We chuckled, then I finally left the School. And that was the last time I ever seen him, heard him, or felt his wonderful warmth.Part of him I took with me when I left him. Leaving was Bittersweet. And once I left, I realized as much as I enjoyed our relationship, it was a very toxic one that was honest to God unhealthy. I lost my only friends, and tons of respect when I devoted my heart to Ryan Glantis. But, I wouldn't trade my experience with him for anything or anyone.
After all this, some major investigation was done. Ryan was arrested and charged as an adult, got life in prison. Now I knew I'd never see him again for sure. Turns out, he also killed his father! Doesn't surprise me I guess. If he really was a monster, he should've been serving the same time that Ryan did. But sometimes, life just doesn't work out that way.
My parents pressed charges against him for shooting me, which I already immediately forgave him for. The office staff had already been taken out when I got there, and there was blood everywhere. Apparently, Ryan killed only twelve people in the whole School. Half of those were teachers, staff, and the office people.
It's been a hell of a rollercoaster ride, and I'll never forget the feeling of being around Ryan Glatnis. Forever and always, my first love.
