"And the world is going to crumble because Jim Harold lost his favorite boy scouts pin," Freddie says, slapping his forehead with his palm. "You know, I bet he watches kids after school and stalks them at the park. Where is his wife?" He continues. His floppy brown hair bounces as he takes giant steps to go at our pace.
"Probably spending her time with Mr.Chase," Naomi answers. Noah has his arm wrapped over her shoulders and their fingers intertwine together.
"I wouldn't be surprised. Imagine sleeping next to a giant cat every night," Freddie says and we all shiver at that image.
"Thanks for giving me another nightmare, Freddie," Esme says to my left.
"A pleasure," he responds. We walk down the hall and go up the stairs to go to English. We talk amongst ourselves as much as we can before going into Ms.Hayes class. I mean it's not like she'll care. She's really layback, but she's also everyone's favorite because of the way she teaches and her connection with her students. Who knew mixing philosophy and English would make a perfect outcome of Ms.Hayes class.
"So, how are things going with Zamari?" Dante asks in a low voice. I turn around to make sure he isn't around.
"Oh, God," I say, growing a migraine at the thought. "Let's just say I am extremely relieved the week is over and I don't have a session with him Fridays," I respond.
"Is he really that bad?" Esme asks.
"I can't get things through his head! We went over the basics of chemistry the other day and the only thing he got by the end of the hour is H stands for helium. Oh, and not to mention the fact that he shows up late, he has an attitude towards me, and he always thinks I'm stuck up!" I rant.
"I mean being stuck up runs through your veins," Dante starts and Esme laughs. "But I get what you mean. That sucks, though. Have you talked to Ms.Darwin about it? Or are you going to go with it for the rest of the semester?" He asks.
"I honestly have no idea. It's only been the first week, so maybe I should just suck it up and hope that he gets things right, and if he doesn't, it's not my grade to worry about." I shrug.
"Sounds about fair. He's not the one taking time out of his day to try to help other people out," Esme agrees.
"Exactly," I say and we turn into Ms.Hayes room.
The room is warm and comforting. There are 4 tables with 6 desks in each group. The lights are dim and she has some plastic candles placed around the room. Her walls are full of shelves which are being used by hundreds upon hundreds of books. She has an area of bean bag chairs in the left corner where people can go and chill when they feel like it. At her desk, she has multiple Beauty and the Beast related items spread out on the table. On her wall, she has letters from students, pictures of her and her dogs and family, and hand-drawn fan art of Beauty and the Beast. Ms.Hayes tends to say that age is just a number, but her mind works like a 6 and 26-year-old combined.
"Oh, I was also gonna ask you, how are you and Luis?" Esme asks.
"You mean the liar?" I raise an eyebrow and make my way to our table.
"Did you find out what happened?" She asks ignoring what I just said.
"No," I answer, bluntly.
"You didn't ask Zamari either?"
"Not really. He just insulted Luis and made jokes about him, but whenever I directly ask him what happened he changes the subject." I answer.
