1. Virgins & Menstrual Cups = No No
Even if you haven't had penetrative sex, you can still use menstrual cups. The vagina is built out of muscles which can easily contract and return to their former shape after using a cup!
2. Menstrual Cups cannot handle heavy periods
If they couldn't, they wouldn't be so popular. Tampax has a neat chart which you can use to choose a cup based on the heaviness of your flow.
3. The plastic is not healthy for your vagina.
Menstrual cups are usually made of silicone.
Tampax, for example, uses medical grade silicone, which has undergone extensive safety and health testing, and doesn't contain BPA, dyes, or latex. So, in other words, it's super safe to anyone even if they have allergies!4. You cannot sleep with the cup in.
Menstrual cups are designed to be worn for up to 12 hours straight, depending on how heavy your flow is. This means you can pop it in before bed and sleep soundly without worrying about leaks!
5. When the cup is full, the blood flows back to the uterus.
Nope! The uterus is actively pushing blood out via its muscles, so it's simply not possible for the blood to flow back in.
** Now that we've busted these myths, are you ready to try the cup yourself?? I know I sure am!
I've been incredibly curious about the cup for the past year and a half and now that I'm on a new birth control, I have a much lighter period so I think i'm finally ready to invest in a cup!
I do know that other people who have tried it, said that as they were trying to get used to the cup they did use panty liners just incase and they also said once it gets full you can feel almost like little air bubbles, possibly like a queef?? I'm not a hundred percent certain, but as soon as I try mine out I'll keep y'all updated!
I knew all these were just myths and I have been studying up on all the facts and FAQs so if any of y'all have any questions about the cup at all, before or after I try it, please don't hesitate to ask, feel free to message me or drop a comment below and I'll get back to you asap! (:
