Influenced by ovarian steroid hormones, the endometrium (the inner uterine lining) transforms throughout the entire menstrual cycle.
During the first phase (from the end of menstruation to ovulation), it thickens under the influence of estrogens.
During the second phase (from ovulation to the beginning of the next period), the endometrium, stimulated by progesterone and estrogen, matures in preparation for receiving a fertilized egg.
During menstruation, the endometrium is expelled.
A sharp decline in the estrogen and progesterone levels is one of the factors that triggers periods.
A period can be caused, for example, by abruptly discontinuing hormonal contraception, both of which can provoke breakthrough bleeding.
Inducing a period means disrupting the finely tuned hormone regulation system.
This may subsequently result in various menstrual disorders and abnormal uterine bleeding.
This is kind of scary to me, and if you take COCs, I'm sure it's scary to you as well, because we kind of have breakthrough bleeding. When taking COCs, a certain type of birth control pill, you don't get a period. You have a weeks worth of sugar pills, which is the time for your period. The reason we start bleeding is because our body needs that certain pill, and when it doesn't get it during the time of the period, it starts going through withdrawals, which starts the bleeding process- for us, known as our period.
Personally, my period is extremely painful. The week before, painful. And the week after, painful. With that being said, I also suffer from endometriosis. That causes random pains at any given time, cramps every single day, even if I don't have my period. I also get nausea, constipation, extreme belly pain- it's not fun. And the worst? Pain with sex. My husband and I love sex, yet every single time we go to do it, he'll thrust in only once or twice and I'm already in tears, holding my sides in the fetal position in horrible pain.
If any of you are having any of those symptoms, please go see your doctor. Thankfully, now we have doctors actively researching way to help cure endometriosis (thank Jesus!) and it seems to help a good percentage of people trying it. You've got nothing to lose and plenty to gain by trying it, so if you're suffering from this awful disease, give the cure a try. I pray it helps! Unfortunately, it did not work on me or my mother so we continue suffering with it daily. But I wish you all the best!
