Days, and then a week and that week turned into three weeks.

Three whole weeks that Ben had been missing and it was tearing me apart.

Three weeks doesn't sound very long but when you're missing someone you love, it's excruciatingly long.

I wasn't myself without Ben honestly, I barely even get up in the morning and I haven't touched my bass since he left.

I still haven't talked to either of my parents since the whole incident even when they tried to ask me questions or start a conversation with me I just flat out ignored them.

Yes, it did make me feel a little bad since they're my parents and all but they took away the thing I love the most.

Ben.

The only time I talked to any of my friends was that one day when Gwil and I went for a walk but I hadn't talked to anyone else or gone out at all.

Speaking of going out or getting up in the morning.

Here I was, still hiding under my covers at nearly 2 in the afternoon.

I hadn't gotten anything to eat or drink yet because I simply just didn't want to run into one of my parents downstairs and have them try to talk to me again.

My dad and I were on mostly good terms because I knew he was trying to keep my mom from kicking Ben out and he really cared about Ben so none of this was his fault.

I still just didn't want to see either of them though. I didn't want to see anyone really.

Except for him.

I groaned and rolled onto my other side, staring at my Frank Sinatra poster on the other side of my room with squinted eyes.

My eyes shifted over from the poster to my seafoam bass in the corner of my room.

The poor instrument was already beginning to collect dust.

Feeling a sudden wave of guilt come over me because I hadn't played the instrument in so long, I couldn't look at it anymore.

~~~
Once the clock struck 4 PM I finally decided I should get something to eat before I starved to death.
I threw my blanket off my body and shivered at the sudden chill attacking my exposed skin.
I stood up and peaked out my door to make sure nobody was there.
Once I was sure the coast was clear I stepped out the door and slowly tiptoed down the stairs to the kitchen.
I just decided on making toast since it was easy and I still didn't have much of an appetite.
~~~

Once I finished my small snack and watched a little bit of television I scurried back up the stairs to go back to hiding in my room.

I flopped down onto my bed and shoved my face into a pillow.

I couldn't think of literally anything to do except sleep so that's exactly what I did.

~~~
Later that night I heard a tapping sound on my window.
Thinking it was nothing I just ignored it and tried to force myself to go back to sleep.
The tapping sound just got louder and louder and it sounded like whatever was fucking around with my window was going to break it.
I sat up and looked out my window right when a pebble came flying at it, causing me to flinch and fall backwards.
When I recollected myself I looked out my window again I squinted and tried to see whatever was chucking pebbles at my window.
I looked down at the front garden and eventually started to piece the situation together.
I saw a familiar ratty old thunderbird parked out on the street in front of my house.
I looked to see the culprit of the rock throwing.
It was him.
Ben.
I gasped and quickly grabbed something to wear because I couldn't just go outside in my pajamas.
Once I was dressed I slid my window open and climbed out onto my roof.
Since the roof wasn't too far from the ground I just walked closer to the edge and hopped down.
I saw a wide smile appear on Ben's face as I went running towards him.
He opened his arms for a hug and I ran into them with tears streaming down my face. I ran into him so fast that I almost knocked him over.
I pulled away from the hug quickly and I put both my hands on his cheeks.
I inspected his face just to make sure he was actually here and it wasn't another dream.
Once I was sure he was real I wrapped my arms around his neck and covered his face with kisses.
He chuckled and pushed my face away a little bit.
"I missed you"
"I missed you too"
We smiled at eachother with teary eyes before he broke the silence again.
"Wanna go for a drive?"
I nodded and he grabbed my hand.
He led my to his car and opened the passenger side door for me.
I got into the car and buckled up my seatbelt before we sped away from my house.
I had no idea where we were going but I didn't mind. I was just happy that he was back.
~~~

After about a half an hour of driving Ben pulled into an empty field and parked his car in the center of the field.

He turned off the engine and got out of the car to go lay on the hood.

I quickly followed suit and laid next to him on the hood of the car.

He pulled a cigarette out from behind his ear and lit it but I pulled it away before it could reach his lips.

"You're gonna kill yourself with those y'know"

He shook his head and took the cigarette from between my fingertips.

He put the burning side against a spot on his denim jacket and twisted it around to put it out.

He flicked away the rest of the cigarette and moved closer to me.

He turned so he was laying on his side and he opened his arms.

I moved into his arms and he wrapped his arms tightly around my waist. I snuggled up to him and took in his scent of cologne and vanilla.

"Joey."

"Hm?"

"I love you."

I bit my lip and looked up at him.

"I love you too Benny"
