Chapter 12

A couple of hours passed since Sanchi and Vihaan were lawfully married to each other, tied to a mutual agreement. They were unaware of what their future held or how they would clean up all the mess created by the 'one' awkward decision.

Vihaan drove back to the orphanage with Sanchi in his car while Dheeraj accompanied them by his own four wheeler. The people at the orphanage were taken aback when Sanchi disclosed the news of their sudden marriage to them.

Sister Maria squeezed Sanchi's wrist. "Have you done anything under pressure? I don't know exactly how and since when you had known him but this was evident that you understand him a lot. That day when you decided to allow him to stay at the orphanage, I had a doubt that you knew him from before. I am happy that he decided to marry you to save you from the hands of Shakti."

"Maria, I have not done any-thing under pres-sure. I have wil-fully married him." Sanchi could manage to say.

Maria turned to meet Vihaan's annoyed gaze. "Vihaan Sir, Sanchi has been the most important treasure of our orphanage. I feel proud of her that she has managed to receive the loan from the bank very soon and this marriage came as a second gift to us. I was afraid of Shakti's corrupted intentions and she needed a protector for herself. She found it in the form of her husband and you are taking her away, away from this dangerous place. I can't thank you more."

Vihaan was gradually getting annoyed with whatever conversation was going on in the hallway. Sanchi had her luggage packed for her depart to her in-laws' house. She had done a huge sacrifice to save the children from becoming homeless again but she did not disclose the complete truth of getting divorce in future, to them.

Sister Maria and the children hugged Sanchi tighter this time. They did not fail to remind her that they would miss her but then they knew that Sanchi had her own life and she was supposed to settle down with a husband one day.

"Shall we leave?" Vihaan said, fully pissed with the conversation around.

Dheeraj stepped ahead and declared in his unusual loud voice, "We can't, unless the final rituals are performed."

Dheeraj was afraid of playing the final cards but he had to somehow keep the promise that he had given to his mother. Holding the vermilion box and the scared thread higher in his palm, he said again, "You can't leave Vihaan, until you put these on her. They are mom's orders."

Vihaan and Sanchi, both were equally stunned by the declaration and stared at each other. The veins running through their faces failed to receive the circulation of blood, thus causing them to look more pale than ever.

"Brother?" Vihaan clenched his teeth.

"Mom gave me her swear to get the moments of your special marriage captured in my DSLR. She also sent these as her blessings for her daughter-in-law. And you know, we can't upset her," Dheeraj said sternly like an elder brother.

Sanchi's heart leaped for a second when Vihaan stepped ahead, taking the materials into his own grip. The expressionless face of Vihaan confused and scared her, both at the same time. Sanchi sent a short prayer to her God in heaven, murmuring the lines inaudibly under her breath.

Vihaan took a quick glance at her quivering pink lips and rapidly looked away. Taking a pinch of the sacred vermilion, he quietly filled her hairline while fresh tears filled the brim of her eyes. Without wasting time, he tied the sacred thread of his name round her smooth neck. As his warm fingers crawled against her skin, her body jerked with some goosebumps.

Dheeraj finished clicking their final picture and Vihaan left the place saying nothing again. Dheeraj knew how pissed Vihaan was with the act and he chose to remain quiet.
