Chapter 62
Sanchi had been regretting more than ever for pushing Vihaan away from being so near her. Only a few hours had passed since the completion of marriage rituals of Nidhi and Arjun, with the former becoming the legal wife of Arjun for the many more years yet to come.
Sanchi was beginning to hate herself for trying to ignore Vihaan at the earliest of their romance, preferably having no choice. She hadn't seen him again after their heated argument and the whole of her next day was spent confined in her grandmother's room. All she knew was that Vihaan was a man of high morales and he wouldn't keep going near her even after numerous rejections.
Some kinships were meant to be kept a secret, like the one Nidhi and Sanchi were experiencing from their own lives. Sanchi snapped out of her thoughts when she heard Nidhi's voice in the room, and it became clearer when Nidhi was actually calling out her name.
"Vanya!" Nidhi exclaimed, placing some wrapped package on the nightstand. "There are some dresses and jewelry for you. You are going to wear it for my reception tomorrow."
Apparently taking a vague look at the gift wrap and later staring back at Nidhi, Sanchi spoke in a voice full of surprise, "Are you kid-ding me, Nidhi? Do I have to beli-eve that you are giv-ing me some dress-es and jewe-lry?"
"Choice is yours, but it is true. I want you to be properly dressed for the occasion." Nidhi smiled a bit. "Anyways, I don't want mom to see us like this and hence, I am leaving."
"Nidhi!" Sanchi cleared her throat. "I won't be attend-ing your recep-tion. I am sorry."
Leaning forward and bulging her eyes, Nidhi spoke in a crude voice, "I said choice is yours but Arjun will be happy if you attend it. He has urged me like for a hundred times so that I request you to attend the reception. After all, Arjun is the one who will be throwing this grand party."
Sanchi crossed her arms. "I am not will-ingly going to miss it but I ha-ve my own rea-sons. Beli-eve me, I still want to att-end it with all my hea-rt."
"Then what is stopping you?"
"Maa-hir."
"Maahir?" Nidhi crossed her arms too. "What does he have to do with the reception?"
"I don't wa-nt to fall in face-to-face with him by attend-ing the recep-tion." Sanchi shook her head. "You might have forgotten every-thing and for-gave him, but I haven't."
"Shut the hell up, Vanya!" Nidhi chided in a loud voice, "I have not forgiven him at all and I never will. Did you get it?"
Sanchi fell a random step backwards, her back crashing against the wall behind her. "Wh-at did you just say? You have...have not for-given him!"
"I haven't. Is that clear?" Nidhi confirmed confidently, "How can you even think that I will be forgiving someone so easily who tried to touch and indignify you once upon a time? Whatever our siblings' relationship is, we both have grown up together. You are my younger sister and protecting you is always my first priority. I can never deny it."
"Why did Maa-hir say that you have for-given him and allow-ed him in your marr-iage?"
"He said so?" Nidhi snorted her nose in disgust. "Ugh! This fucktard will never mend his ways. He and his family are invited because of dad's friendship with them, not because of my consent."
