A smooth white wooden bench
Tucked behind a large building
Which sits by another structure across a gap
Labeled "Stone Laboratory"
A boat sits rocking upon the gentle waves
Which lap up onto the concrete
And flow back out again into the lake
A small crowd of people climb into the boat
They carry a few objects aboard
Then they power away in a strong arc to the left
A ferry blows its horn and moves away
The distance grows as it shrinks
And it too fades into the distance
A woman in flip flops hurries across the pavement
To a small motorboat just beyond the lab
She grips her phone frantically
And motors off alone to the right
The waves flood the cement
Like a miniature pond just above
The true Great Lake
And the whoosh rhythmically soothes
As the minutes pass
And your breaths slow
But finally you must go
For the rest of world is still moving
