THE MONSTER
THEY COULD HEAR HER ECHOED SCREAMS FROM A DISTANCE, BUT THEY COULDN'T SEE HER OR FIND HER. It was like she was there with them, but she wasn't.
"Jonathan!" Jess screamed. "Jess!" He yelled.
"Jess!" Nancy yelled, shining her flashlight around.
"Jonathan!" The girl yelled, running frantically around the unknown place that she found, trying to find her way out. "Nancy!" She cried. "Oh, god."
"Jonathan I'm right here!" The Johnson girl cried.
"Jess!" Nancy yelled.
"Oh, my god, where did she go?" Nancy ran a hand across her forehead.
"Nance! Nancy!" She screamed.
Where the hell was she? White flakes floated around her and she stopped running, looking to see where she was. She was in the exact same place where she crawled out of. Finally. She had found it, and was itching to get out.
"Jonathan, I'm right here!" The girl cried.
"Nancy!"
"I'm right here, I'm right here!" Nancy yelled, her heart racing with fear. "Jess! Just follow my voice."
When she heard them call her name, it was like an echo. She started to run again, but stopped when she heard a noise.
Turning around, she was faced with the monster again, and went to hide behind a tree that was covered in slime. Jess slowed down her breathing. She couldn't let the monster hear her. She couldn't die. But the sound was coming closer. It was right behind her. Jess shut her eyes, wanting this to be all a dream. She hugged her father's gun close to her chest, squeezing her eyes shut, and praying that this night would be over. The monster circled her, and the noise that it made was so eerie it made her want to cry.
"Jess!" She heard Jonathan yell.
She turned to the right to see the spot where she came out of. The monster seemed to walk away from her, but it was still there. "Jess?" Nancy bent down to the tree where she must've went in, and Jonathan on the left side of her.
"Jess?" He looked at Nancy before sticking his hand through. Jess was finally able to reach the exit, and she stuck her hand through, causing the boy to jump back. "Jonathan! Nancy!" Without hesitating, Nancy reached for her hand. With Jonathan's help, they yanked the girl out of the slimey tree, and she landed on top of Jonathan.
"Oh, god," Jess cried out. "Oh, my god," Nancy said, hugging the girl. Behind them the tree closed, and Jess cried into Nancy's arms. It was going to be a long night, and nightmares that she would never escape from.

When the three teenagers got home Jess was shaken up. She hadn't let go of her father's gun since she they got there. No one was home, which was probably a good thing since she looked like she crawled out of an ditch. "Are you okay?" Nancy asked, grabbing the girls arm. Jess shook her head.
"I don't even know what okay is anymore. If you guys hadn't... hadn't been there... I would have been stuck in that place."
