THE FLAYED
JESS SAT IN THE BACK WHILE HOPPER DROVE UP FRONT. She realized that she hasn't seen Steve or talked to him for a few days, and she hasn't been able to speak to her mother at all. She's probably wondering where she is, or she's spending time with her boyfriend and had completely forgotten about her.
She looked out the window into the darkness, wondering what Steve was up to.
She missed him dearly. It's only been a few days, but she missed him. She missed her friends. Nancy, Jonathan, and the kids. What were they up to? What were the kids doing when they were chasing this story which she still couldn't believe she agreed to go along with them on this journey. As her thoughts clouded her mind Hopper pulled up to a house and Jess unbuckled her seat belt ready to hop out of the vehicle. "Looks like somebody's home," he said.
Hopper parked the car and they got out. The girls followed him to the front door of the house and he shined the light. It looked like no one lived in this Hess farm. There was an empty green patterned checkered chair sitting in the corner, with an ashtray sitting on the arm. "Do you hear that?" Joyce asked.
They could hear the sound of some sort of humming.
Like a machine. Hopper was in front, and the girls behind him moving slowly. They rounded a corner and the light above them was flickering. Hopper turned with his gun and Jess could feel the hairs standing up on the top of her neck. There was another door, another light flickering. "Where's that coming from?" Jess whispered, walking as quietly as she could.
The humming noise continued, and Jess was getting more and more confused and antsy. A noise was coming from somewhere, but also nowhere. She looked around with her flashlight in the bedroom.
"It's below us," Joyce said. Jess turned to look at her as she had her head against the floor.
Hopper and Jess lifted the bed together. They shined the light down there and all shared a look. "Well, looks like we found what we were looking for," Jess muttered, "Let's go."

They walked down the stairs that were apart of the bed and down into the bunker type room.
Hopper had his gun, and the girls only had a flashlight. They could hear talking from the room, and when they rounded the corner two men were working on the machine. "Hey, dipshit! Hawkins PD. Hands in the air!" They stood up and with confusion, looked at the three standing there.
"Don't. Make. Me say it. Again." The men wearing black spoke something but it was not English. "English. Do you speak English?" "I can't understand you!" Hopper mimicked his voice. "I can't understand you! I don't understand-" "Hopper!" Joyce yelled, her finger pointing up towards the ceiling when she heard someone walking above them. "Oh god," Jess said.
