~~(10 years later)~~
(Narrator P.O.V)
You have just turned sixteen years old, and as time passed, you have grown into a beautiful, strong woman. Your (h/c) hair was always up in a messy, but suitable, (hair length) ponytail. Your outfit changed to a torn tan shirt with sleeves that reached your elbows, a white sash around your waist, and a pair of old, dark brown pants that dropped to your knees. You had worked as a ranch hand for your Father for years, but you never forgot your dream. Or let your amulet out of your sight. You rarely took it off, for anyone or anything. It was the key to your future, after all. You trained in a secret practice area when you had the spare time, you designed a (f/c) tunic for your knighthood ceremony (if you ever got to that point), and even made your own sword with the help of a local blacksmith. With your determination to do a task that was thought to be impossible, some people in the village thought you were insane. But you were far from that. You were preparing yourself for the future. Ready to serve your country. Ready to be Knight (Y/n) of Ridan Village. But that time wasn't here. Yet.
As you awaited for the day you started your journey, you just pictured it all in your head. You, at the Royal Family's side. Fighting for them, honoring them, being the knight you've always wanted to be. Their knight. You've heard stories about knights who personally served royals, who were dubbed the greatest in the court. You were more excited than any young male knight could ever be. That was your goal. Personally protect the Hyrulean Royal Family. Earn that title. You've wondered about what the royals would be like, picturing them in your mind almost every day. Especially what the prince would look like now. The thought made you blush at times. 'He was adorable when we were kids... I wonder what he's like now...'
One day, you were tending to your family's goats out in the grazing range, trying to get them in the pen. They were being stubborn again, no surprise there. You were riding your father's horse, Ginger, while looping around the herd. "Hya! Hya! Get outta here, goats!" You called. A few were more cooperative then others, and they went in the pen with little fuss. Others, however, were rougher. One got really mad with your yelling and tried to charge at you and Ginger. You quickly led it in circles around the herd until it managed to calm down. You then cautiously led it inside with the others. That angry goat process needed to be repeated twice more, but you managed to do it easier with each rage. You soon managed to round them up, giving Ginger a chance to breathe. You lightly pat her mane in appreciation. "Good job girl," you say softly. "You did great today." You carefully got down from her back and dug into a small satchel you worn on your upper left thigh. You pulled out a small drawstring bag of apple slices and open it, taking a slice out and feeding it to Ginger. She ate it and nuzzled against your hand, making you smile and pat her nose.
As you were placing Ginger in her pen near the goats, you hear an annoyed and masculine voice call to you. "(Y/n)!" It called.
'Father...' You thought, mentally sighing. Your father walked into the pen and over to you, holding your blade in his hand. You noticed and started to get nervous. 'Oh no... Did he find out...?'
"(Y/n)," he says in a serious tone, gripping the handle of the sword. He held it up for you to properly see. "What is this?"
"Uh... it's... uh..."
"Are you STILL holding onto that pathetic dream of being a knight!?"
You stammered as you thought of a lie to tell, but soon sighed, then nodded slightly. "Yeah... Link said I would one day..."
"And you still believe you met Prince Link??"
"I did meet him," you muttered. Your father never believed the fact that you met Prince Link. No matter how many times you told him, no matter how much you insisted, he never believed it. No one did, in fact. It was too improbable, based on all the rumors everyone heard.
