"Hey… Hey... Are you okay?"
A calm, feminine voice beckoned you to awake. It had repeatedly tried to awaken you, working after several minutes. You groan softly when you had come back to consciousness, too tired to get up right this second. Your eyes soon slowly fluttered open as you glanced around. You were now in a grassy field. Why a field? How? You were just in the castle, when… Then memories of the castle came flooding back to your mind. Your (e/c) eyes shot open even wider as you quickly sit up. "Link!!" Pain quickly rang through your head shortly after. You hold your head as you groan. "Ow..." you mumbled, inhaling sharply. “Goddesses…”
"Easy now, Miss. Please, do not push yourself."
You slowly look up and jump in your place, seeing a strange woman floating near you. She had eyes that were whited out, a very pale complexion, platinum blonde hair tied into two long pigtails that dropped to her hips, and a small round face. Dressed on her slender and tall body was a pale blue and violet rode, decorated with golden runes of unknown origin. A matching golden crown was placed on her head, thin enough so it didn’t pass the height of her forehead. Her legs each decorated with a pale gold ribbon that tied down from her calf to her ankles, her feet bare. You move back on instinct, getting defensive while reaching for your sword.
"Wh-who are you?!" You demand.
The girl simply smiles softly. "Please do not be afraid. I will not hurt you. My name is Zelda. I am a messenger of the great Hylia, and I was sent by her Grace to aid in your quest."
You blink in disbelief. "Z... "Zelda"? The queen…? N-No, you look different. And… Quest? What quest? What are you trying to say?"
The elegant woman floats down to her feet, kneels in front of you. "Hm... I see. You must be lost. Confused by what you were chosen to do. Well, allow me to tell you a story, Miss. A tale as old as time itself..." She then began the story you had only thought to be a legend so long ago.
Long ago, in a distant and unborn state of Hyrule, this was a peaceful land of prospering and harmony. Very few humans existed back when the great Goddess walked the land, but even so, it was grace. Everyone was advancing in a tremendous way, learning new ways of survival and prosperity. Everyone prospered in harmony and intelligence. Our gracious goddess watched over the land with her divine protection. But little did she know was her dear land was in danger.
Beneath Hyrule's soil, a terrible evil grew.
Demise.
Demise was a demonic king of darkness, with a desire to take over Hyrule and the ancient treasure of the Goddesses. He had managed to steal one piece of this treasure as his own, using it to create his army of demons. And with its power, he raised the army and brought panic to the land, turning what was peaceful into instant war. Hylia had quickly summoned her own army, for she had a fragment of the treasure as well.
The last piece lay within the hero.
The hero in a green tunic who wielded the blade of evil's bane, who was chosen by the great Hylia herself. He charged head in, wanting to protect his land.
Together with the goddess and the soldiers of Hyrule, Demise was finally sealed away, bringing peace back to Hyrule.
But thanks to a curse he placed with his treasure, he would be reincarnated again and again, as a being known as Ganon. When a princess born of the Goddess’s blood and the Hero’s spirit is born in one timeline, he awakens, and is thankfully beaten each time… A boy in green, a girl of time, and a being of destruction.
You listened in awe as the sprite told you the tale. You had heard about a legendary hero who slew darkness long ago. But never the full story. Not all of it. "Okay, I think I get it," you say. "Evil gets reincarnated, a hero is born with a princess, everything turns out wrong...! But what does this have to do with a quest? Or me?"
