The path to Kakariko Village was pretty straightforward. A simple walk through grassy fields down south, damp from the mist of Zora's Domain, and through a small wooded area until you find an array of cliffs. The sun was shining brightly as you left the Domain, giving the Zora people a sign of hope upon your departure. You remained quiet as you went to the village, processing everything you had gone through while listening to the clatter of your weapons hitting each other on your back. The temples, the items, new friends, everything. You never imagined a life like this would come to a village girl like you. A task so dire trusted to a woman so simplistic when it comes to your upbringing. You figured becoming a knight would be hard enough to do, and now you're a chosen hero! But how...?

You often asked yourself the same thing a few times during your mission: "Who am I? Why am I here?" You knew whom you were supposed to be, and who you were, but who are you now? Who is (Y/n)? A hero? A village girl? A knight? Or a dreamer? You never took anything into deep consideration until now, being so close to the one thing you needed to end this whole journey. Why were you chosen to be the Legendary Hero? Why not another man, and instead of a woman? And who is this Zelda if she’s not the queen? Who is she really?

"Does something trouble you, Master?" Zelda says through your amulet, noticing your lack of noise.

You jump in surprise, your breath catching in your throat for a second. You let out a relieved sigh, feeling stupid for thinking it was a threat for a moment. "N-No," you say. "Nothing's troubling me. I was just... thinking."

Zelda flies out of your amulet, hovering beside you. She turns to face you, her head tilted in curiosity. "About what?"

You shrug. "Everything?" You say, uneasy. "Everything just happened so fast. I was only trying to be a knight. And now I'm some hero that’s supposed to protect the kingdom?"

"The Goddess always has a change of fate for chosen ones," Zelda says. "It is only natural at this point for one to be chosen at random. I urge you not to fret, Master."

You nod, then face her again. "Zelda. Who are you?"

Zelda only gives a straight face, not even flinching when you asked your question. She slowly shakes her head. "That, I cannot say," she says. "Not yet. But in time, all that is relevant to my being will be revealed to you."

You grumble a little beneath your breath, but nod. “Okay,” you say to her. “I trust you.”

Zelda nods back, then flies back into your amulet, letting you continue on your way in peace.

You simply growl, continuing forth in silence. Your hands were curled in frustration, starting to get a bit tired of all of the confusion. Even as you tried to keep your focus, you couldn't help but get angered with all the secrecy every now and then. You sigh, starting to make your way through woods you had to pass before you were supposed to reach the village. The sunlight was sprinkling through the leaves above, flashing by like day-lit fireflies in the dimmed area. A light breeze came by every now and then, gently brushing your hair behind your shoulders. Admittedly, the scene made you calm down. You gently tuck some hair behind your ear, taking in a cooling breath. "Well..." you mumble, "At least the kingdom is still nice." You lightly touch the bark of a tree, stroking it as you pass by. The small chirps of birds were heard, absolutely carefree. You chuckle a bit as a few butterflies flew past you, heading off into a slightly darker area. Chirps seemed to grow louder as you got closer to where the butterflies went. You figured there was a small meeting place of birds. A cluster of nests, maybe? A good area to find food, maybe?

But once you had stepped into the clearing, you stopped into your tracks to what you find.

Yes, nests were present. Three from what you could see. Butterflies were fluttering around, circling where they all had nestled. And the object in question? A large, rusted machine covered in moss. It looked like a black flat-ended cone, runes of unknown origin decorating its plating. The upper part of the machine was cracked open, leaving just enough room to keep a small bird nest in. While the creatures around seemed content with it, something about it seemed... strange to you. You didn't know exactly what it was, but something was familiar to you. In a haunting way.
