'Georgia?' My mam asked coming into my room and sitting on the edge of my bed.
'What?' I mumbled half asleep.
'Well, you know your dad?' She asked hesitantly.
'I don't want to talk about him mum' I bluntly replied.
'Please Georgia, it's important' she said sounding like she genuinely meant it.
'Ok, what about him?' I said sitting up so I was looking at her.
'He wants to see you'
'No way, I'm not going to see him' I said turning around.
'It's completely up to you, you don't have to' she half smiled.
'I don't want to' I bluntly replied and lay back down.
'Ok, well let me know if you change your mind' she smiled walking out my room and closing the door behind her.
I decided to ring Sophie as she's the only one who completely understands me and knows what's best.
'Hello?' She said answering the phone almost immediately.
'Hi, Sophie I need to ask you something' I sighed.
'What is it?' She asked.
'It's my dad, he wants to see me, what should I do?'
'Shit, um, I think you should go see him and get answers. You're always saying you just want answers on what he did and why he left isn't now the perfect opportunity?'
'Well yes but I don't know'
'I think you should and I think you should take Ryan' she said.
'Ryan? I can't, he doesn't know anything that happened, I can't tell him' I panicked.
'You're going to have to tell him some time Georgia, he'll understand' she reassured me.
'Well he's coming down today so if I do tell him I'll take him but if not I'm going alone' I sighed.
'Well if you don't tell him I'll come with you but I think you should tell him'
'Alright well I'm going to go, thank you Soph' I smiled as we said our byes and hung up.
I sat and thought about everything and the thing that worried me most was the though of Ryan not understanding everything going wrong. I can't lose him.
After an hour the doorbell started playing and at that point I knew I had to tell him.
'She's upstairs, just go up' I heard my mum say and a few seconds later he came walking into my room.
'Hey' he smiled kissing my temple and taking me into a big hug.
'Ryan?' I said pulling away and sitting up on the bed.
'Yeah?'
'My dad wants to see me' I blurted out and at that the tears began to stream down my face.
'Don't cry, maybe it's a good thing? You can start building bridges' he smiled wiping the tears from my face.
'It's not that easy' I sighed.
'What is it? What did he do?' He asked lifting my chin so I was looking directly into his eyes.
'In telling you this because I trust you'
'What is it?' he smiled.
'When I was little I never really understood why he came in drunk all of the time and in time it became normal and I never questioned it. Then it progressively got worse. He was becoming abusive to my mam and he'd come in and hit her in front of me, I thought it was just a bit of fun because like I said I was only young. He then started to hit me and every day it would get harder. I started getting bruises and i'd cry myself to sleep almost every night. I always wondered why my mam didn't just leave him but I never truly understood. He threatened to kill me if she left. He was an alcoholic and until he was arrested he hurt us and it just hurts that everyone else has such perfect families and my dad, well, he's an alcoholic and I hate him. I don't want to see him but I want answers' I sobbed.
'I had no idea, I'm so sorry and I'm sorry you had to go through it all at such a Young age' he said hugging me.
'Will you come with me to see him and get answers, please' I pleaded.
'Of course I will, by only if you're sure you want to do this' he smiled hugging me.
'I am'
'When are we going then?' He asked.
'In an hour?' I asked.
'Alright, how are we getting there?'
'I'll ask my mam to drop us off but she'll stay outside' I smiled.
'Alright'
🌸🌸🌸
'Right, be careful, I'm staying here so if he does anything or even sounds or looks like he's going to you come straight out, ok?' My mam said.
'Alright, we won't be long' I smiled.
We got out the car and my heart was beating faster than ever.
'Are you ok?' Ryan asked wrapping his arm around me.
'Yeah, come on' I said as we walked to the door and I took a deep breath and knocked.
Within seconds the door opened and there stood my worst nightmare, my dad.
