After that, the entire Cullen household was tense. Alice didn't talk to him as much and he felt like he did something wrong.

Axel never left his room until Sam Uley came one day for him.

"Here. This is the final photo we have of Mirabelle." Sam said handing him a long orangish envelope.

Axel opened it and gasped.

"Axel, come meet your grandmother."

The toddler babbled stumbling to his feet and he ran towards her. He smiled showing his two front teeth.

"He's so big!" She cried kissing his cheeks.

"Yea."

Axel shook his head and looked at the picture. "She's my grandmother. I can remember those eyes anywhere. Always smiling despite the hard times."

"So you're my distant cousin. You don't carry the gene from what I can smell." Sam sniffed around him.

"What if it's dormant?"

"Then of course, it would be impossible for you to be a blood singer. Vampires don't like our blood." He said simply.

"So I'll never be a wolf..." Axel frowned.

"Unfortunately, I have my doubts."

"Shit." He turned around sighing.

"Where are the Cullens?"

"Hunting, I believe. They told me that was what they were doing."

"All at once?"

"What?" He asked.

"I don't smell them. The scent is hours old at best." Sam said walking around the house. That's when there was a frantic knock on the door.

"Is Edward here?" Bella asked.

"No, what happened?"

"Those bastards left us!" She screamed throwing a chair.

"What happened, Bella?!" Axel asked.

"Edward told me that he didn't want me and that he was leaving."

"They told me that they were hunting..." Axel looked down and Nibbles walked downstairs whining as she felt her master's sadness.

"Come to the territory. You'll be in danger here." Sam said to Axel before waiting outside.

"Bella..."

"Huh?" She asked surprised by his serious tone.

"We are going to Denali. Gather your stuff and money. I'm gonna open my father's inheritance."

Her smile grew into a mischievous smirk.

"Tell Charlie first. We are going on a fucking road trip."

"Ok!" Bella chirped ready to explore the outside of Forks.

Paul watched him as he packed. The shifter supported him chasing the Cullens and giving them a run for their money.

"Here, take this." Paul said giving him a carved ivory colored knife.

"What's this?"

"It's made out of my tooth in wolf form. It will help you cut through any leeches that stand in your way." He grinned and showed him the missing tooth in the back.

"Paul..." He took it and held it close.

"It'll heal back in a day or so. I had Sam yank it." He explained.

"I'll definitely use it." Axel put it in his bag.

"You trying to be Billy Badass."

"Billy is not a badass." Axel retorted and Rachel walked in.

"I heard what happened and I wanted to give you this if any humans give you a hard time." She hands him a wrapped magnum gun. "It's a .44 mag."

"Holy shit! You expect me to murder?"

"You'll need to protect Bella." She retorted.

"Ok, I'm surprised that you've given me this."

She pointed it at the ground and showed him how to take it off safety and shoot it.

Bella looked at Charlie, "I'm gonna go on a road trip with a friend."

"You still have school. You can't just drop everything and leave!" Charlie argued.

"I want to find someone."

"Bella, he's not coming back. He's not worth this." Charlie sighed.

"Charlie, I'm 18 and I'll finish high school online if it takes that long. I'm taking my stuff. Love you."

"Love you, too. I hope you know what you're doing, Bells."

"Of course."

They met up at state line. Bella left her car there behind the trees with the keys under the passenger seat carpet.

Axel drove up with the Cullen's Volvo that they left behind.

She hopped in and they looked forward.

"I got $900,000. You?"

"How do you have that much?! I only have $1,589."

"Father had a good insurance. I got everything he owned. He had a bank account with thousands. There's more in his garage from when he wanted to take us away to Canada. Mom killed him before that could happen anyway. I just leave the money in the garage as a back up plan."

"We're going after her first. Then the Cullens." Bella said firmly.

"Fine. I like that plan. We buy two round tickets from Texas to Washington. We come back here and drive to Alaska once we have our information."

"Hell ya." Bella gasped panting in excitement.

"Calm down there, Girl. Nibbles is back with Paul and Sam said that he was escorting you off the territory." He explained.

"Wouldn't be a good trip for her anyway and yea, Sam stayed out of sight mostly." Bella stated.

"Truth. Call Renee on the way there."

"Ok."
