It's time.
I stand on the quantum tunnel, surrounded by the Avengers. We're dressed in the red and white time travel suits, much to my agitation.
"All right, we have a plan. Six stones, three teams, one shot." Steve says to the gathered group. "Five years ago, we lost. All of us. We lost friends, we lost family, we lost a part of ourselves. Today, we have a chance to take it all back. You know your teams; you know your missions. Get the stones, get them back. One round trip each. No mistakes. No do-overs. Most of us are going somewhere we know. But it doesn't mean we should know what to expect. Be careful, look out for each other. This is the fight of our lives. And we're gonna win. Whatever it takes." Steve glances over to Tony, sharing a look. He gives everyone a nod. "Good luck."
"He's pretty good at that." Rocket comments after a moment, glancing up at everyone.
"Right!" Scott agrees, jabbing a thumb in Steve's direction.
"Better than T'Challa's pep talks," I add. Steve smirks with a shake of his head.
"All right, you heard the man, stroke those keys Jelly Green," Tony calls over to Dr. Banner at the control panel.
Dr. Banner flips the correct switches, starting the countdown process. "Tractors engages!" He calls back before rushing to his spot on the platform.
I take deep breaths, calming my nerves as I glance around at everyone. This is something completely out of my comfort zone, and my comfort zone was destroyed five years ago fighting aliens.
"You promise to bring that back in one piece, right?" Rocket growls to Clint. In Clint's hand is a shrunken version of the Guardians spaceship.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah okay." Clint waved him off nervously. "I'll do my best."
"As promises go, that was pretty lame." Rocket grumbles as I roll my eyes. I playfully shove his head to the side making him swat at me lightly.
"See you in a minute." Nat hums as she smiles at Steve.
I glance up, watching the mirrored arms over our heads begin to turn and shift hypnotically. The helmet on my suit snaps over my head as the ground begins to melt away. Suddenly, I shrink into what Scott calls the quantum realm with the rest of the Avengers.
The feeling of traveling in the quantum realm is like falling into nothingness, it's kind of hard to explain. I can feel my stomach tie itself into knots, but I can't help but laugh at the strange feeling.
Suddenly the feeling vanishes as we come crashing down to the ground.
We have arrived at our destination, Asgard in 2013.
The suit retracts into the watch next to my kimoyo beads as I gasp lightly for air. I glance around, feeling the sensation of needing to throw up.
"Hey, you okay?" Rocket asks as he places a concerned paw on my shoulder. I suck in a shaky breath as I look up at him.
I just release a laugh as I glance around at the stone walls surrounding us. "That was awesome." Is all I manage to mumble. "I can't believe that worked."
With a nod of his head, Rocket helps me stand before turning to Thor. "We got to get moving, lead the way."
Thor nods his head uneasily before heading down the hall. Rocket and I follow close behind. I glance around as we travel. Thor said we might drop in the dungeons, but these are some nice dungeons.
No bars are keeping the prisoners in, just glowing force fields. And everything inside the cells is clean and white. And I thought the prisons in Wakanda were nice. For an ancient deity civilization, they know how to pamper themselves, including their prisoners.
Thor suddenly stops and peers into a certain cell before glancing over his shoulder at me. He glances back into the cell before rushing to the other side.
Rocket follows with me trailing behind.
I peek into the cell before stopping in my tracks.
Lounging in the cell is Loki. He's just lying there, throwing a cup into the air. Thor did mention that at this point, Loki was locked in the dungeons before faking his death the next day. I just thought we wouldn't run into him.
Suddenly the pounding sensation of Sigyn fighting for control attacks my head. She sees him, she wants to be with him. She wants control. I release a groan as I shuffle to stay standing, my hand pressed against my temple. This one hurts worse than all the ones before.
My skull feels like it's going to explode.
She's so close to him. All she has to do is take control. And then they could be together forever.
"Kid, let's go." Rocket calls.
When I refocus on the cell, I find Loki sitting up, watching me. Those bright green eyes are filled with surprise and confusion. To him, it was only a year ago that Sigyn told him not to look for her. But here she is, standing before him. Or really, her I am.
I release a squeak before rushing after Thor and Rocket.
But in the distance, I hear his voice call out. "Sigyn..."
I only pause for a second before rushing up the stairs after Thor and Rocket.
