"All right, the glove's ready." Rocket announces as the gauntlet hovers over the table. I glare at it as I make my way to Rocket's side. The design is like one of Tony's Iron Man suits. "The question is who's gonna snap their freakin' fingers?"
I pinch the bridge of my nose. I completely forgot about that part. Who is willing to sacrifice themselves to do the snap?
"I'll do it!" Thor volunteers. My head snaps up towards him as Thor steps forward closer to the gauntlet.
"Excuse me?" Rhodey asks, glaring at Thor.
"Thor no, you can't," I say, taking a step towards him.
"No, it's okay," Thor argues as he reaches for the gauntlet.
"No!" "Wait a min-" "Stop." "Hold on!" Tony, Steve, and Clint chant at the same time, stepping up to block Thor's path.
"Thor, just wait," Steve says sternly. "We haven't decided who's gonna put that on yet."
"Oh, I'm sorry. What, we're all just sitting around waiting for the right opportunity." Thor remarks as he glances around at everybody.
"We should at least discuss it," Scott suggests.
"Thor, think this through," I suggest as I place a hand on his arm. "We don't know what could happen, we have to discuss this."
"Look, us sitting here staring at the thing is not gonna bring everyone back." Thor snaps, gesturing to the gauntlet. "I'm the strongest Avenger, okay? So, this responsibility falls upon me, this is my duty-"
Tony steps up in front of Thor. "It's not that." He clarifies.
"Stop it! Just let me!" Thor snaps, getting frustrated and emotional. I grab his arm again, trying to calm him. Thor places his fist on Tony's chest as his voice begins to shake and crack. "Just let me do it, okay? Let me do something good, something right."
"It's not just the fact that that glove is channeling enough energy to light up a continent. I'm telling you, you're in no condition." Tony argues calmly, leveling a caring gaze up at Thor.
"What do you-what do you think is coursing through my veins right now?"
"Cheez Whiz?" Rhodey quips.
I glare at Rhodey from over my shoulder. "Not the time." I hiss at him before turning back to Thor.
"Lightning." Thor corrects.
"Yeah," Tony murmurs as he pats Thor's arm.
"Thor, that's not going to be enough," I murmur.
"Lightning," Thor repeats himself, trying to convince Tony and me.
"Lightning won't help you pal." Dr. Banner says as he steps up. "It's gotta be me."
"What?" I gasp as I whirl around to face Dr. Banner.
"You guys saw what those stones did to Thanos." Dr. Banner explains as he makes his way to the gauntlet. "It almost killed him. None of you could survive."
"How do we know you will survive?" Steve asks in a monotone voice.
"We don't," Dr. Banner replies. "But the radiation's mostly gamma. It's like..." He trails off as he shakes his head. "I was made for this."
"Dr. Banner, there has to be another way," I say with a slight shake of my head. I glance around at everyone. Nobody meets my eyes. I look back up at Dr. Banner as I continue to shake my head.
