"Rocket." I hiss as I shuffle down the halls for a second time today. That stupid raccoon wasn't in the corridor outside Jane's chambers. Now I'm stuck wondering the halls, again, looking for him. "Rocket, goddamnit, where are you?"
"Halt!" A voice called out from behind me as I prepare to turn down another hallway.
"You've got to be shitting me," I grumble as I glare up at the ceiling. I turn slowly to face three golden armored soldiers advancing towards me. Each one with their hand on the hilt of their sword, walking in a defensive stance.
"This corridor is off-limits to civilians. Who are you and what is your business here?" One of them calls out to me.
"She looks familiar." Another one whispers, glancing at his comrades uneasily.
"It could be Loki." The third adds.
I raise my hands as a sign of surrender. "Look, first off I'm not Loki. Secondly, I'm just here on official business."
They share a look before refocusing on me.
The first one rises from his stance and steps toward me. "The Allfather will want to see this."
"Oh, I don't think that's necessary," I say with a shake of my head. I take a step back but the soldier grabs onto my arm.
Instinctively, I bend my arm to grab his wrist. I twist it behind his back till it pops and then give him a quick kick in the back of the knees, knocking him down. All while this is happening, I've grabbed his sword, disarming him.
With his sword in my hand, I hit him in the head with the hilt, knocking him out. His armored body hits the ground with a loud clang.
The two remaining soldiers raise their weapons and go into offensive stances. I raise my new sword against them and take a step back.
I level a threatening glare at the soldiers. "Look, guys, I understand your only trying to do your job. But grab me like that again and-" Suddenly from down the hall, the thundering of feet echo.
All three of us turn to see a raccoon running down the hall followed by an army of soldiers.
Wait, that's not any raccoon.
It's Rocket!
"Thor!" Rocket shouts as he runs on all fours, the soldiers hot on his tail. "Kid-oh, hey Kidara! I got the stone, time to go!"
As Rocket passes, I glance over at my two new friends, giving them a sheepish grin before taking off after Rocket.
I give a quick shove to a soldier as I pass, making him trip and fall. I snicker as the others begin tripping over each other, buying me and Rocket some time.
"Rocket, let's go!" I shout as I grab Rocket by the collar of his shirt and lift him into my arms. Scrambling onto my shoulder, Rocket clings to my shirt as I run at top speed.
Thank you Steve's Super-Soldier blood transfusion.
"I got it." Rocket huffs as he holds up the extractor with the stone in it. "Where's Thor?"
"With his mom," I say as I glance over my shoulder at our pursuers. They've managed to regroup. I slide on the floor as I try to turn down a corridor, crashing slightly into the wall.
"Hey, nice sword." Rocket comments, noticing the golden weapon.
"Not the time," I growl as I plow into a set of golden double doors. The Queen's chambers.
