IVY'S POV
*i wake up to the alarm joey set for 9:35am. i stretch and rub my eyes while laying in joey's arms. i shut off his alarm so he doesn't wake up and run my hand through his hair. i lay my head on his chest so i can look up at him as he sleeps. i admire him while playing with his hair and slowly sit up, laying his head in my lap. he wraps one of his arms around my waist in his sleep and holds onto me. i smile big and tear up from all the emotions he makes me feel. i wipe the tear on my cheek as his eyes flutter open and he looks up at me.*
joey- good mor- baby? why are you crying?
ivy- it's nothing i promise i'm not sad
joey- well if you aren't sad you're definitely going to tell me why you're crying
*he sits up and wipes my tears before taking my hands in his. he rubs my thumb on my hand and i look at him, smiling.*
ivy- i started crying because while you were sleeping, you wrapped your arm around my waist and it made me happy
joey- awh princess, you're so cute
*he kisses my forehead and wraps his arms around me. i lean into his body and he rubs my back with his cheek on top of my head. i close my eyes, taking in the moment and he starts kissing my forehead repeatedly. i giggle and look up at him, causing him to start kissing my lips. i kiss back each time and he smiles big. i smile back and get out of bed, taking him with me.*
joey- where are we goingg?
ivy- i'm going to make you and your family breakfast while my graduate gets ready for his big day
joey- it's not that special baby, i can still help you
ivy- it is to that special. you finally finished school and you're only 20. you should be proud of yourself love
joey- you're right and i am. i just don't know what i'm going to do for a job
ivy- your major was physics so something in that field. we'll figure something out i promise
*he smiles and kisses me softly. i kiss back as i smile and wrap my arms around his neck. he lays his head in the crook of my neck and i play with his hair.*
ivy- look at it this way, you get to see me graduate in a few days and then we never have to leave each other. we can move in together or travel or do whatever we want for the time being
joey- who knew you could be so inspirational princess? but you're right and i'll stop worrying about it. now you can go make some of your delicious food and i'll get ready
*i smile to myself and leave the room after kissing his cheek, knowing i won the conversation. i hear him turn on the shower and i start making french toast with fresh fruit.*
JOEY'S POV
*im in the line waiting to walk through the crowd of people watching my class graduate. i talk to a few people i know while we all wait for the music to start playing.*
{ 15 minutes later }
*the music starts and i'm one of the first people to walk out since my last name starts with a b. i take a deep breathe and follow the person in front of me. i look around for my family as i walk down the aisle to get to my seat and i see ivy tearing up along with my mom. i smile at them and sit down in my chair. i look back at ivy and my mom has her arm around her while they all look at me. she wipes her tears and i blow her kiss, letting her know it's okay. she smiles and places her hand on her lips. i turn my attention towards the principal as the national anthem starts playing.*
{ time skip: 50 minutes later }
*its time for all of us to move the tassle from one side to the other, showing that we are graduates.*
principal- graduates, please move your tassle to the other side to confirm that you are graduating. whether you are going straight into a job or not, everyone here is proud of you. congratulations class of 2019, you are now graduated.
*everyone throws their caps in the air, including me. i don't throw mine too high so i can still have mine and everyone starts walking over to their families. i slowly walk over to my family and after a few minutes i reach them. my mom pulls me into her embrace and starts crying as i rub her back.*
joey- mom it's okay. you still get to see ivy and sophia graduate
jen- i know but you're my little boy and you're all grown up now
joey- i'm always going to be your little boy mom. nothing can change that
*she nods and wipes her tears. i hug bella and she congratulates me. i thank her and hug sophia tightly. she hugs back and wraps her legs around me. i set her down a few seconds later and walk over to ivy. she opens her arms and i bend down to her height, hugging her tightly. she giggles as she hugs back and i lift her off the ground a couple feet. i set her down and she looks up at me with teary eyes.*
joey- don't cry princess. there's nothing to cry about
ivy- i'm just really proud of you baby
joey- and i'm proud of you. also have i told you how cute you look in white flowy dresses because you look amazing
ivy- yes you told me before we left the house loser
*she giggles and i smile big, hugging her again. i pull away and rest my hands on her waist. she holds onto my biceps and looks up at me. i lean in, connecting our lips. she kisses back and holds the kiss for a few seconds. we both pull away at the same time and look at each other.*
ivy- i love you so much joey birlem
joey- i love you so much more ivy future birlem
*she smiles big and i smile back. my mom catches our attention by telling us that we are going to go out to dinner.*
jen- come on kids. we are going to go out somewhere for dinner. joey gets to choose
joey- can we get japanese food?
jen- anything you want and ivy, you get to choose on your graduation day
ivy- oh it's okay. we can just have a small barbecue at my dorm or something
jen- don't be silly. you're part of the family and you're going to get treated equally
*ivy nods and looks up at me while we all start walking to the car. i look down at her to see tears in her eyes and i quickly wipe them away when they start rolling down her cheek. i kiss her forehead and intertwine our fingers.*
ivy- that's the first time i've heard that i'm part of the family from your mom
joey- is it hard to hear or think about?
ivy- a little bit but i'm glad all of you still accept me
joey- we will always except you, no matter what
ivy- that's why i love about you
