chase's pov
its noon. 2 days after the baby was born. we filled out the birth certificate and they ran tests to make sure we can go home. thankfully, all the tests came out good so we're leaving today. they told us that they wanted to take some blood work from lila before we left. thats what im waiting for right now. addy didn't sleep last night so she's sleeping right now.
lila is in my arms. she's wearing the outfit addy picked out for her. she had a cute headband on with a big bow but not too big. she now is wide awake and staring right at me. i examined her pretty little face. she has addy's eye shape. she has my lips. shes so perfect. she kept sticking her tongue out and i stuck mine out at her. "lila daddy loves you i really do. you're my little girl and you always will be. dont worry im here to protect you" i say to her as her eyes widen as if she was listening to me.
i hear 2 light knocks on the door followed by a doctor walking in. an older darker women introduced herself. "hello im doctor rochelle im here to take the final tests for baby Blake" "hi im chase the baby's dad. her last name is hudson. im not married to her mom" i explain as i walk over to lay the baby down.
"oh im so sorry i assumed" she apologizes. "no worries. " she gets out the papers with the information on it. "okay miss lila we are going to poke her foot. you don't need to hold her down either but you can maybe distract her? newborns are easily distracted" she tells me. i nodded me head and layed the baby down. she immediately started fussing. i went over to her bag and grabbed a pacifier to see if it'll calm her. i put the purple pacifier in her mouth and held it there. the doctor poked her and the baby started whining. "shh shh shh its okay daddy's here" when i said that she stopped crying. she stared at me. i knew she felt safe when i reassured her. it felt good to know that.
when she was finished i picked her up and stood up swaying with her over my shoulder. "you're doing amazing sweetie" i hear a tired addy from behind me. i smiled at her and walked over to her. "we're going home soon. need anything?" i offer. "can you give me an outfit? im not connected to anything anymore i can change" i nodded and received a smile back. addy reached her arms out for the baby. i placed the baby in her arms. addy switched the position she was holding her in. she had the baby facing her. one hand holding her head the other one holding her bottom.
i went to addy's bag she packed for herself and got a hoodie and sweatpants. it was my hoodie. "hey get my hairbrush and a scrunchie" she points to her bag. i got them and placed them on her bed. "do you love me enough to do my hair for me?" she says making puppy eyes. i laughed and without hesitating went to go brush her hair. "i know how to braid i grew up with sisters" i brag about it making addy laugh. i did a braid in her hair which looked pretty good.
she handed me the baby and got up to go change. the baby had fallen asleep now. i put her back on my shoulder so i can easily give her back to addy. addy came back looking like a princess. "addy im so proud of you" i tell her while planting a kiss on her head. "i love you so much. thank you for the best birthday gift ever even though its early still the best gift ever"
