Narrator's POV:
As Dianne made her way off of the train, stretching her legs slightly as she had been stuck in her seat for the past 3 hours, she found her head was still just as conflicted as it was when she got on it in the first place. Her chat with Chloe had certainly cleared up some queries that were floating about, but if anything that had made it worse. Her epiphany on Anthony had now not only confused her feelings about what she had done, but also confused her thoughts on Joe, and her relationship with him.
On the other end of the platform stood a young man, with the biggest smile on his face, his eye line following that of a red barnet that could be seen through the crowd of people. It was very rare in Joe's life that he ever felt genuinely excited to see someone, being a ridiculous chilled out guy in pretty much all situations meant that whenever a plan was made, Joe just went with it, meaning that very few things in his life were a shock to him, or made his heart beat that little bit faster. But with the woman he felt lucky enough to call his girlfriend, that fact was quite the opposite. Whenever even the thought of Dianne came into Joe's head, he could physically feel his pulse raise that little bit higher, he could feel the smile grow onto his face and he could feel a warmth inside of him that he could never grow tired of - Joe knew all to well that those feelings he felt were all down to her - no question about it.
As he watched the red head climb the stairs to cross over the tracks, Joe watched her intently. Not in a creepy or gawking sort of way - no. It was a look of care that Joe gave Dianne, a look of satisfaction and serenity at the fact she had made it back to him in one piece. It was a look that Dianne noticed instantly. A look that calmed her fears and instantly soothed her aching head. A look that deep down she knew wouldn't last forever - but my god, did she want it to.
As she slowly made her way through the crowd of commuters, Dianne noticed how her speed began to pick up, and her smile widened more with every step that she took. To everyone else in the world, it would have looked like nothing more than a frustrated traveller who was rushing about with a heavy bag trailing behind them, as they rushed to the opposite platform in the hope that they would catch the train that was already beginning to shut its doors. But to all those who knew Dianne it was clear that this new found pace in her steps was down to the boy stood with a smile on his face at the far end of the bridge - flat cap on his head, with a look of nothing but love in his eyes.
As Dianne got closer, she could barely contain her excitement, chucking her bag to the ground she ran at Joe, and essentially pounced on him. It was fair to say that Joe was surprised at the levels in which Dianne got to him, but nonetheless Joe caught her gratefully in his arms, feeling her arms wrap around his neck, and her legs wrap tightly around his waist, Joe looked at the smiling face of his partner before leaning in for a passionate kiss. They held it for a few moments before snapping back to reality, and remembering where they were. Taking he legs off of his waist, Dianne settled her feet back on the ground and let go of Joe - spinning around she saw Chloe stood waiting with her and Joe, holding Dianne's dented suitcase that she carelessly dropped a few meters back.
"Oh thanks Chlo" She said with a guilty look in her eye as she took her bag from Chloe, knowing exactly what she was thinking. After the conversation the two had had barely an hour ago, Chloe was definitely not impressed by the display of affection Dianne had just showed publicly towards the man she had cheated on two nights ago.
There was an awkward silence afterwards, that Joe didn't quite understand. So in an attempt to clear the weirdly confused air - Joe held Dianne tight to him and suggested that they got home. "Yeah absolutely, let's get going." Dianne replied in an attempt to get away from Chloe before she said something.
"Bye Chloe, i'll see you soon yeah" Joe said as he began to walk away from her. As Dianne lent in to give Chloe a hug to say goodbye, she felt Chloe hold onto her and bring her mouth close to Dianne's ear.
"Di, remember what we talked about yeah - you have to tell him." She whispered into the red heads ear. Dianne pulled away and looked Chloe in the eye. Her friends usually friendly glance was taken over by a stern look that Dianne knew was targeted for her. "I cant do it Chloe." Chloe never stopped her stare, barely blinking as she essentially drilled into Dianne's mind. "Well you have to - if he kicks off then there's a spare room at mine with your name on it, but you definitely can't keep this from him." She said sternly. Dianne lowered her gaze before nodding her head in understanding, hating the fact that she knew Chloe was right about this.
As she walked back to Joe, she took his hand into hers, slightly leaning into his body as they walked towards the station exit. "What did Chloe just ask then, she looked kind of angry?" Joe questioned getting the sense that something wasn't okay.
Dianne looked up at her boyfriend, noting the worried look in his eye that made her heart melt ever so slightly. "Oh... It's... ah. Nothing, It's just tour stuff." Dianne lied quickly - knowing that although she had to talk to Joe abut what she had done, now was neither the time nor the place to make her grand confession to him.
"Well you can forget about that for now, let's just get home and chill yeah." Dianne nodded at Joe, squeezing his hand tightly for a moment in response. Dianne was still in a state of complete and utter confusion, her heart refusing to break Joe's trust in her, but her head telling her that it was her only option. But one thing was for certain, whilst Joe was in a state of blissful ignorance, Dianne would use every waking moment that she still had with him, wrapped in his comforting arms. So as they walked back towards their home together, her head was found miles away from exactly how she was going to break the news to him, but instead found it wondering how she would spend the night with Joe, how she could make it special - knowing all to wel that it could be her last.
