Narrator's POV:
Things had definitely changed. The smug smile that Dianne had left Joe's with after her prominently eloquent speech had dissipated - instead the reality of the situation hitting Dianne with full force. It was over...
The relationship that she was certain would be her everlasting , FINAL relationship had come to an end. The sweet boy with the floppy hair and incredible sense of humour, which never failed to lift her up in her lowest moments, was probably by now packing away the items she had left behind in the home she had essentially lived in since Christmas, the home that very quickly after they met had become her safety bubble, the home where she had her first dance, first kiss and first real feeling of love for Joe in. But now that was gone. Her right as Joe's girlfriend to come and go whenever she pleased, stripped from her, despite the combination to get into the building still in her head, and the key to the front door still in her pocket.
And despite her strong words and powerful exit, Dianne knew that the likelihood of Joe coming back to her after what she did was becoming smaller and smaller with every step that she took away from the house. Still every now and then looking over her shoulder in the hope to see a wave of hair floating about as Joe ran towards her, asking for her to come back home with him, as if this was some sort of cheesy rom-com that defies the rules of life. But of course... he never came running after her.
Dianne kept walking, her head down looking at her feet, her shoulders slouched and her overall presence so low that if someone who didn't know her found out that she was a dancer, would have for sure thought that they were being lied to. But still, as her faulty thoughts and panicked heart rate took her along the river, she let everything wash over her. A moment of silence keeping the tears at bay - the only thing stopping her from giving up at all was still that smidgen of naivety that she held onto for dear life - the idea that still, Joe might want her back.
Ever since Dianne had moved to London, she had always felt incomplete. Coming from an extremely loving and close family in Australia, moving to the other side of the world was a big thing for her. And although the majesty of the 21st century had allowed her to keep in frequent contact with her family, it was never the same as having the simple ability to go down the road and have a cup of tea with her mum. Or get in her car and drive to the next town to go and join her brother and sister-in-law in cheering on her nephew as he played his first game of football. Or go and spend time with her niece and teach her to dance, as after all in Mia's words, 'she's always wanted to be like her Auntie Dot'. But it just wasn't possible... Dianne's love of dancing had forced her to make a choice between her career and her family. Causing her to sacrifice everything that the girl at the tender age of 19 who knew nothing but, growing up with the ocean to her left - the Australian bush to her right - and the safe cocoon of the best family that a girl could wish for supporting all her hopes and dreams, surrounding her every step of the way. But when the opportunity to go and see the world and live the life she had wanted since the age of four came around she had to say goodbye. Leaving a very big part of who she was behind. Never finding it until she made her way to London.
London... A big, scary city with nothing but too many people who don't have the time to stop and say hello - the opposite from where she grew up. But after a year of dancing and spending time with her new adopted family of professional dancers, Dianne still felt as if something was missing. That was until 5 months ago, when for the first time she, and 12 million other people, herd the infamous phrase of 'Social media star Joe Sugg and his partner Dianne Buswell' ring through Elstree Studios ever Saturday night for 13 weeks. And that's when everything changed.
Out of the dark and unsatisfactory life she had secretly been living in a city miles away from home, came a new face, and a new start following along behind. A face that slowly but surely got rid of all those solitary nights at home alone. A face that over 13 weeks brought her more joy to dancing than 13 years of competitions and touring ever had. A face that finally gave her a home in the city that slowly became less terrifying. The face that led her to a new family... a loving sister, a caring mother and a father who had the same witty humour as his son. A face that fulfilled that feeling of in-completion. Yet now she had pushed that face away, and with it the additions that only now had Dianne been reminded of meant so much to her. The slow and steady rumble of in-completion throwing her life off balance once again. This big city miles away from home once again losing its familiarity and safety.
The night began to close in - a gentle orange hue cascading onto the London skyline, Dianne still traipsing around until eventually she made her way to a house - walking up to the front door and knocking twice. Waiting as the cold chill of the late evening began to penetrate the jacket she had thrown on this morning. Until eventually the door opened, a familiar face with softened expressions and a remorseful eye opening her arms up to her, knowing all to well what this visit was for.
Dianne walked gratefully into the arms of the home owner. burrowing her head into the crook of their neck, her tears finally escaping. Her thoughts and emotions uncontrollable as her fears that she confronted almost 10 years ago when she moved away from her family, becoming a reality. The instability of her recklessness finally catching up with her. Meaning all she could do was stand there in the arms of a friend, wishing she had never left home in the first place.
"Come on Di... Let's get you settled"
A/N Hey people, I hope that you enjoyed this. Just very quickly I would like to gather some feedback from you. It would really help me out if I could get some opinions from you all, on one particular subject. I am having a bit of a dilemma at the moment in the fact that I am really enjoying writing from an outside /narrator's perspective but don't want to commit to just doing that if you would still like first person accounts from any of the characters. Any feedback would really help me out. Thank you xx
