A/N this is in no way Christmassy but I hope you enjoy. 😊

"I'm home little one!" Dianne bellowed through the house as she entered the environment that had very quickly become her sanctuary. The warm colours and soft furnishings instantly relaxing her after a brutal day at work, involving nothing but loud people, music and extravagant routines for a solid 10 hours. But despite that her day had been second to none, all that could make it perfect was a night in with a wholesome cooked dinner, and a cuddle with her one and only.

With no immediate response to her welcoming statement, Dianne found herself frantically searching for her boyfriend around their apartment. Wondering first into his office, before checking the spare room and the lounge. Still unaware of his whereabouts Dianne waltzed into the kitchen to get a start on dinner for the two of them, seeing as it was almost half six in the evening already. As she reached the kitchen island, ready to crack on with their usual evening routine, Dianne found her attention diverted by a small scrap of paper placed delicately on top of the stove top, in plain sight for her to read. The writing was most definitely Joe's but the all too simplistic message threw Dianne off slightly.

'BALCONY'

Dropping her bag gently onto the floor, leaning it up against the leg of the table football table, Dianne walked over to the set of sliding doors across the room, opening them gently before poking her head round the corner. As she saw Joe sat there on his phone, his hair an adorable mess and his smile wide as he looked at something on his phone, Di couldn't help but let her heart melt at the sight. Being the middle of August the sun was at a level in which it enveloped the city in an orange hue, even as the evening began to drone on. The heat of its rays instantly hitting her, first with its warmth but then with a wave of nostalgia as it reminded her of the times she and her Dad used to play card games in the garden as the summer sun went down when she was a teenager.

"Hello stranger." She spoke softly, a hint of sarcasm in her voice which caused Joe to instantly look up from his phone and allow his smile to widen that little bit more as he took in the form before him. Standing up from his comfortable position on the outdoor sofa, Joe found his way over the fake grass and towards Dianne, the moment she was in arms length of him, his hands found her waist, drawing her closer to him and catching her lips in a passionate kiss that took Dianne by surprise, a small moan escaping her lips as she felt her body weight being cradled by Joe's arms as his lips attacked hers in one of the most incredible kisses she'd had in her entire life.

Eventually pulling apart from her, Joe smiled gently as his hands wrapped around the small of her back. Dianne in the mean time took a moment or two to regain her focus, her body having become all fuzzy and jelly like as the severity of Joe's kiss had managed to place her in a trance.

"Who's a stranger now?" Joe questioned sarcastically as he watched his girlfriend stare into at him, the lights on but clearly nobody home.

"Huh?" She questioned as she finally calmed herself and came back into the room as the spell Joe put her under was lifted. Joe chuckled slightly before pressing a quick kiss to her temple. "Never mind." He replied back before gently releasing her from his grip, and taking her hands in his instead.

"What was all that about then Joseph?" Dianne retorted back as she looked deeply into his eyes, the sapphire blue shinning out more so than it had in a few months she noticed. "What?!" Joe questioned with feigned shock in his voice. "Aren't allowed to kiss the most attractive person who has ever lived in this apartment?"

"You can, but Byron isn't here." Dianne quipped back causing Joe to dissolve into a fit of laughter. As he calmed himself, Joe felt a wave of pride wash over him at Dianne's comment. Dianne's sense of humour was what had first made her seem so attractive to Joe all those months ago. She was undeniably funny back then, but more recently her jokes and sarcastic comments had been that bit better, and he noticed many of them began to sound like things he would say. "Seriously though what did I do to deserve such an incredible welcome home?" Joe dropped one of her hands and brought his up to her chin, his thumb brushing over her lips as he smirked. "Just a taster for later on." Joe retorted coyly before tilting his head back exposing his neck ever so slightly, knowing it was what Dianne found the most attractive thing about him.
