Felt like doing a random wend night upload. Hope you enjoy 😊
"...She fell and hit her head. Um, we... we're not to sure what the result of it is yet but we need to get her to hospital to make sure that she'll be okay for tomorrow. Anyway please call me back as soon as you can alright. I'll talk to you later."
It was a phone call that Jack didn't think he'd ever have to make. He had been on the producing team for Strictly ever since he left university 6 years ago, and since then had had to deal with some random stuff. But never did he think that he would have to be the one to call a loved one in a time of need. But there he was, stood on the far side of the ballroom away from everyone so he could make a call.
Running a hand through his short, dark hair Jack wondered back across to the gaggle of people who consisted of various professional dancers, one celebrity and a team of medics that were checking over the professional who was none the wiser of what had just happened.
"What did he say?" Jack found his attention swiftly diverted from the action in front of him, to his right by the sound of Janette's voice.
"I don't know... He didn't pick up." Jack paused for a moment as he looked at the petite dancer next to him. Her face strewn with worry as she looked up to him expectantly. "I left him a voice message and a couple of texts. I have no idea where he is, but he should see it in a few minutes. He's never too far away from his phone anyway."
Janette nodded in response before she looked back out into the crowd before her that started to shuffle and separate as the medics pulled a wobbly looking Australian to her feet. Her red hair pulled away from her eyes, as a dazed look spread across her face.
"She'll be okay." Jack responded pulling Janette out of her daze for a brief moment as she nodded once again, smiling at him gratefully. "Could you do me a favour actually? Could you go with her... to the hospital. I know that you're done for the day and hoping to get away early, but I just think she'd appreciate having a friend with her, rather than just Darren." Jack said as he pointed over to the man with the greying hair who was supporting Dianne's wobbly frame.
Janette nodded enthusiastically before she began walking over to catch up with the group. "OH JANETTE!" Jacks voice caught her attention again. "I'll tell him to call you instead of me. And make sure you let us know how everything is." Nodding again, Janette ran over to catch up. Instantly placing a reassuring hand on her friends shoulder before they disappeared out of view, leaving the ballroom as empty as it had been 10 minutes ago. Nothing but a red sofa on the floor, underneath the signs and decorations for the weekend ahead.
"Well..." Jack muttered to himself. "I guess it wouldn't be movie week without a little drama."
...
"I'll be back in a few minutes with your results."As the doctor walked away, Janette placed a hand on Dianne's shoulder. Hoping that any form of comfort from anyone would be enough to change how she was feeling.
It was weird, she thought, seeing her in such a quiet and wistful state. Dianne Buswell was never known for being 'one of the quiet ones'. It was an ongoing joke within the group of professionals that Dianne very rarely stopped to think about anything she was doing, and instead always jumped into everything head first, giving it all she had. But this new found silence was different. Concerning.
Feeling her relax under her touch Janette took the opportunity to find out what was going on in the disgruntled Aussies mind. "What are you thinking about D-Buzz?" She questioned.
Dianne turned her eye line off of the patterned tile she had been studying intently, and over to Janette. "Has he said anything yet?"
Janette sighed, checking her phone for the 50th time that evening. Once again being greeted with an empty screen. "No not yet Di." Of course that was what's bugging her. Despite the headache she was likely coping with. Despite the stress she was under. Despite the state of the unknown she was plunged into in a hospital waiting room. Despite it all, there was not a chance in hell that she wasn't thinking about Joe. Or to be more exact, the lack of him, even in text form.
