"Jade? Jade, wake up," I hear a familiar voice call out to me while nudging me. I groan in protest, my head banging like a drum. "Jade, get up. It's almost noon," the voice insists.
"Leave me alone," I mumble. I feel the bottle I was holding tightly in my hand be yanked away from me. I go with it for a second, moaning at the exhausting pain in my body.
"Really? This bottle is almost empty! Have you been drinking all night?" I take in my surroundings. I still had on my outfit from last night.
I had fell asleep at the counter in the flat I shared with my brother, Alex, who's currently looking at me with annoyance and disappointment.
"Lexy, can you not be so loud? It's too early for that," I rest my elbow on the counter and put my head in my hand. "Didn't you hear me? It's almost 12 o'clock! And I know you've been calling her back to back while downing this shit like water."
He angrily sets the bottle down and far from my reach. "And so what if I was?" I defend weakly. He sighs, "This is getting bad." I look up at him, his eyes reading sadness and worry.
"What you mean? I'm fine," I say, not really trying to convince him or myself. "Are you, Jade? Because I saw what happened last night. And I mean, everything. Down to you crying in Perrie's arms in the middle of the club."
I scoff feebly, "I didn't do that." He chuckles bitterly while nodding. "Yes, you did because you saw Andre and Leigh-,"
"Ah," I chuckle. "So, that's his name?" The taller man stares at me in disbelief. "Jade, you have a problem. Like for real," I weakly roll my eyes before getting up from the stool.
"Where's the Advil?" I ask while going to our bathroom and opening the medicine cabinet. "I'm being serious, Jade! Me, Perrie, Jesy, hell, even Chris noticed!"
I turn to him, "Isn't that your teammate? That pretty boy?" He throws his hands up in annoyance, "You're fucking impossible." He mumbles, leaving me. I shrug it off, popping a pill in my mouth and went back in the kitchen for a drink to wash it down.
I take a water bottle from the fridge and took a single gulp before putting it back. I pass my hands through my messy, curly hair, groaning once again at the hammering pain in my head.
I go over to the counter and pick up my phone. Shit, it's dead. I sigh, now heading to my room to charge it.
All I could think about at this moment is what Alex had said.
He's right, I do have a problem.
For the pass few weeks, I'd get drunk, call Leigh, pass out in the kitchen, then repeat. It's sadly became a routine. So much so that, as he said, our friends picked up on it.
I put my phone on the charger and grab a towel and shower cap before leaving my room and going to the bathroom. On my way there, I catch a glimpse of Alex in his room, hiking his sports bag over his shoulder and grabbing his books off of his bed.
He closes his door behind him then looks up and sees me. "Have a good day," I tell him. He gives me a soft smile and wraps an arm around my neck before kissing the side of my head.
"I worry about you, big sis. I hate to see you like this," he says, releasing me. I nod lightly, "I know." He makes a thinking face, "When I come back, you wanna just have a sibling day? Have Karl and Christian over?" He says, referring to our two brothers.
I chuckle lightly, nodding, "Yeah, that sounds cool." He smiles and messes with my already messy hair. "Okay. Well, love you, fuck face," he says, going into the living room. "Your momma!" I call out. He squints at me before opening the front door.
