Five days have passed since the conversation I'd overheard between Stiles and Theo. I'm still trying to comprehend what I'd overheard.
Theo walks up and says, "Hey. I need to talk to you two."
I cock a brow as Theo continues, "It's not really about me. But it's something I probably should've told you a long time ago."
"What is it?" Scott asks, glancing to me.
The boys both catch my eye as Theo says, "It's about Stiles." He pauses suddenly. "Wait...Do you hear that?"
"Is that the police?" I ask.
"It's an ambulance." Theo replies.
Mason's panicked voice catches my attention. "He just started bleeding everywhere. I don't..."
Corey is placed into an ambulance and is choking as he says, "Don't let them do it. Don't let them kill me!" I feel a pang of pity for the boy.
Theo turns to us. "Scott, Megara, we have to follow them. We have to protect him, right? Scott, come on. Scott?"
A siren wails and Theo keeps calling out to Scott. I place my hands on Scott's shoulders. "Scott, synkentróno!"
(Translation: focus)
We follow the ambulance to the hospital and after awhile, Scott suddenly speaks up. "Hey, what did you want to talk to me about?"
"It can wait." Theo replies.
I narrow my eyes. "If something's wrong, you need to tell us."
Scott nods in agreement. "We've all got to start talking to each other again."
Theo frowns slightly. "This might not be the best place to start, Scott."
"You think I'm going to be angry?"
Theo shakes his head. "Not with me."
I roll my eyes. "Whatever you're going on about, you can tell us."
Theo says, "Open the glove compartment." Scott does so and Theo continues, "It belonged to Stiles." I pull out the bloody wrench as Theo adds, "He dropped it at the school."
"Dropped it when?" I ask curiously.
"When he killed Donovan."
Scott asks, "What are you talking about?"
"You know he hurt his shoulder, right? You smelled the blood."
"That was the Jeep." I reply. "He told us the Jeep's hood fell on him."
Theo shakes his head. "No, no, no, that was Donovan. He went after Stiles in the library. I only saw the end of it. And when I saw what Stiles was doing...I couldn't stop him." He pauses a moment. "I shouldn't...I shouldn't be telling you this. You should hear this from him..."
"Tell me. Tell us." Scott demands.
"I saw Donovan go down. Stiles hit him with the wrench, and then, he just, he just kept hitting him."
That doesn't sound like something Stiles would do. Scott clearly has the same thought. "Uh, maybe it was because he...He threatened to kill his dad."
Theo shrugs. "Or maybe Stiles thought he had to keep going to defend himself, but he just...He kept hitting him."
I frown. "That's not possible."
Theo meets me eyes. "He crushed that kid's skull. I heard it cracking and splintering. By the time I pulled Stiles off him, half of Donovan's head was caved in. It didn't even look real." He starts stammering. "I keep telling myself that it was self-defense...It was self-defense, but...Scott, Megara, I'm sorry. I've never seen anyone that angry. You...You should talk to Stiles. You have to talk to him."
