We walk through the woods, and Malia says, "We can still catch him."
"Catch who?" Scott asks, eyes focusing on Malia.
"The killer. What are you thinking about?"
Scott and I stare at the fleur-de-lis bullet casings. I bite my lip. "We need to get these back to Mr. Argent."
Malia frowns. "Even if he's the one who fired it?"
Scott nods. "Especially if he's the one." He stops abruptly. "Do you hear that?"
I draw my sword, letting it glisten in the moonlight as Malia asks after a moment, "Heartbeats?"
"A lot of them. They're here."
"Who?" Lydia questions.
Hearing the fear in Scott's voice, I know why he sounds scared. "O skáta. Hunters."
Scott turns to the three of us. "Run."
He runs off and Malia calls after him. "Scott!"
Scott turns and sees hunters looming closer. He stops, seeing several red laser-sight beams crossing the woods. He bares his fangs, showing his alpha eyes. I raise my sword higher as he tackles the closest figure, that being Sheriff Stilinski. "Argh. Scott. Scott, it's me. It's me! Scott! Scott. Megara, put the sword down, please."
I grip my sword tighter, seeing a gun pointed to my friend's heart. I point the sword closer to Sheriff. "Move the gun away. Now."
Sheriff does so and says, "Okay, okay. Come on. It's okay. It's okay." He glances around. "Everybody, stay back. They're just kids."
Deputy Vargas glares at us, gun still pointed at Scott. "What's wrong with his eyes? And why does she have a sword?"
I narrow my eyes at the deputy. "Voithós, válte to óplo káto. Tóra."
(Translation: Deputy, put the gun down. Now.)
Parrish shakes his head. "You heard the Sheriff. And the girl, though I don't know what she said. Stand down."
Scott shifts back to normal and starts panting. "I'm really sorry. You don't think they'll say anything, do you?"
Parrish smiles at us. "No more than they're used to."
"You wanna tell me what happened here?" Sheriff asks.
"He's a Hellhound." Parrish says.
"A dead Hellhound." Malia adds, earning a look from Lydia.
Sheriff nods. "Yep, got that."
Parrish frowns. "Well I don't get it. I didn't think you could kill a Hellhound."
Malia shrugs. "Looks a lot easier than we thought."
Sheriff flicks his eyes between me and Scott. "You two got anything you want to add?"
Scott pockets his bullet casing and says, "Yeah...I don't think it was just any bullet."
"I hope not." Parrish mutters, kneeling down next to the body.
After everyone leaves, Lydia, Malia, Scott, and I look to each other once we've reached Scott's house. In the car, Lydia turns to Scott. "Why didn't you say anything?"
"Why didn't you say anything?" Scott returns.
"Why didn't either of you say anything?" Malia asks them.
"Why didn't anyone say anything?" I question. "And enough with the why didn't."
Malia frowns at Scott. "Wait, was I supposed to say something?"
