Our first thought is to take Derek, or young Derek, to Deaton. His eyes widen slightly. "Wow."

"Wow?" Stiles asks. "Wow as in, "I've seen this before and I know exactly what to do," kind of wow? Cause that's the kind of wow we were hoping for."

"I think it's the other kind of wow, Stiles." I say softly.

Deaton meets my boyfriend's eyes. "I think you might be overestimating my abilities."

Lydia takes young Derek's hand. "He's cold. Really cold."

Scott looks up at his boss. "Do you think this is permanent?"

Deaton shrugs. "I'm not sure a medical diagnosis is even adequate. This is well beyond my experience."

"So what are we gonna do with him?" I ask, as I cross my arms and kick off from the wall.

"Until he wakes up, probably not much. It might be best to leave him with me. He'll be safe here."

"You mean from Kate?" Stiles asks.

Deaton's eyes shift to Stiles. "If she's alive and she is what you say she is, she won't be able to walk past that gate."

Lydia frowns. "Why would she want to do this to him?"

I let out a scoff. "Remembering what Kate was like, it's probably good for her and bad for us."

Deaton glances to each of us. "You guys should probably go home. He doesn't look to be in any danger. So maybe the rest of you should get some sleep? It is a school night...And you all need to start taking care of your own lives again."

Scott turns to his boss. "Someone should stay with you."

Lydia glances down to Derek still holding her hand. "I'll stay. My grades are fine...Despite missing a few classes."

I frown. "I don't think that's such a good idea."

"Guys, go." Lydia protests as she looks at me.

I shake my head. "No."

"Text us if anything happens." Scott says, dragging me out.

"Scott, let me go back! I refuse to leave her alone with him! I swear to the gods, and to my dad, that I will drown you."

Stiles glances to me. "Meg, you're literally shaking the earth."

I glare daggers. "Good."

"Okay, I am so over the wolf stare. You need to calm down, right now."

He takes my hand and I slowly feel my temper calming.

When I get back to Scott's, I see Scott's dad asleep on the couch and I walk over to the kitchen table and pull out my English homework and instead of doing it, I fall asleep.

A sudden noise wakes me and I see Scott kneeling beside something. A toolbox. "Sorry, Meg."

"Scott?" Agent McCall asks.

Scott smiles awkwardly. "Hey, Dad. What's with the tools?"

"Oh, I was just, uh..." He sighs. "...getting started on a list of repairs you guys need done. What time is it?"

I glance to the clock. 4:05 AM. I'm going to kill Scott. "It's um...Midnight." Scott replies, after turning the clock.

His dad sighs. "We were supposed to have dinner. We had a deal. When your mom has a night shift, we have dinner."

Scott nods. "Sorry, I totally forgot about it. When we got back from the camping trip, I had to go straight to the Animal Clinic to finish up work."
